After a week off, TGL returns with a bang.
Two games on Monday followed by another double header on Tuesday mean the table will really start to take shape when those four matches are in the books.
Atlanta Drive - the champions in the tournament’s inaugural edition and top of the current standings - goes into battle twice.
First up, Atlanta faces Boston Common Golf in a battle of the top two.
Later on Monday evening, with a different line-up, Atlanta keeps the party going with a showdown against third-placed Los Angeles Golf Club.
Tuesday opens with New York Golf Club v The Bay Golf Club before New York returns to the SoFi Arena straight away to take on Boston Common.
The big intrigue in Monday’s opening match-up - the one we’ll preview here - is the return of Justin Thomas for his first competitive start of 2026.
Ahead of the four-game Monday/Tuesday spree, the outright market shows Boston Common leading the way in the betting at +240.
It’s then +350 Atlanta Drive, New York Golf Club, +600 Los Angeles Golf Club, The Bay Golf Club, +750 Jupiter Links.
| Atlanta Drive GC | Boston Common Golf |
|---|---|
| Player 1 - Chris Gotterup | Player 1 - Rory McIlroy |
| Player 2 - Justin Thomas | Player 2 - Keegan Bradley |
| Player 3 - Patrick Cantlay | Player 3 - Michael Thorbjornsen |
Each match consists of two teams of three playing 15 holes across two sessions on a selection of custom-designed holes
Triples: Holes 1-9 - Each team of three playing in alternate-shot format
Singles: Holes 10-15 - One-vs-one, head-to-head competition for the entire hole. Each player from each team plays a total of two full holes
Modern match play is the scoring system. Each hole is worth 1pt
If the match is tied after 15 holes, Overtime (best-of-three, closest-to-the-pin) kicks in
The Hammer (each team gets three per match) allows teams to increase the points value of a single hole. The flag/towel is thrown down by a team official to signal its use and can be accepted or declined
Chris Gotterup
Gotterup was the star of the just-completed West Coast Swing after banking two wins in five starts: the Sony Open in Hawaii and the WM Phoenix Open. That form has been reflected in TGL where he’s won three of his four Singles matches, enjoying a chip-in in eagle and nailing every putt inside 10 feet. Gotterup faces Rory McIlroy in Singles which recalls the final round of last year’s Scottish Open when he won a final-day duel with the Northern Irishman to lift the trophy.
Justin Thomas
He’s back! JT was a huge presence in Atlanta’s title win in Season 1, ranking tied fourth in Singles points, and giving energy to his team from the get-go. Thomas underwent surgery in November to tackle a “nagging” disc issue and said recently that he’s hoping to return to the PGA TOUR in the upcoming Florida Swing. This could be the perfect way to get his 2026 going and don’t for a minute think he’ll be holding back.
Patrick Cantlay
Cantlay is in for a busy evening. He’s the only Atlanta player suiting up in both Monday’s matches. For his second assignment of the night, he’ll have Billy Horschel and Lucas Glover alongside him for the showdown with Los Angeles Golf Club. Cantlay has been a solid presence in TGL so far with both his play and strategic use of the hammer. On the PGA TOUR, he’s had top 15s at both The American Express and Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Rory McIlroy
It’s hard to believe that McIlroy’s team didn’t win a single match in Season 1. But the script has been flipped this time and Boston has won its two matches so far by a combined 16-6. Rory has found his groove, winning both Singles matches against great buddy Shane Lowry in the 9-1 win over The Bay. He couldn’t quite find it in the final round at Riviera on Sunday but McIlroy is clearly not far away.
Keegan Bradley
The McIlroy-Bradley-Thorbjornsen line-up is 2-for-2 so far. Therefore it’s no surprise to see it reprised for this top-of-the-table clash. But while McIlroy and Thorbjornsen will be replaced by Adam Scott and Hideki Matsuyama for Tuesday’s game against New York, Bradley will go again to maintain his 100% playing record. The 2025 Ryder Cup captain won one and halved one of his two singles over The Bay last time so is coming to the boil in TGL. On the PGA TOUR, he’s had something of a low-key start: MC-29-43-MC.
Michael Thorbjornsen
Thorbjornsen nailed a 15-foot eagle putt to win both his Singles and help Boston Common win its first TGL match with a 7-5 success over Los Angeles. He drained four putts from outside 10 feet on his debut and was again hot with the putter in the dominant 9-1 win over The Bay next time. In four starts on the PGA TOUR this year he’s posted a third in Phoenix and T18 at Torrey Pines.

This is a tough one to call.
Atlanta had a seven-match win streak going in TGL (across Seasons 1 and 2) until a shock 8-6 loss to Jupiter earlier this month.
They clearly deserve lots of respect and many will see them as an auto-bet when priced as the ‘dog.
Boston, meanwhile, is 2-0 this season and widely regarded as the team to beat.
We also need to factor the return of Justin Thomas into the mix.
He’s the heartbeat of Atlanta but hasn’t played any competitive golf since September so may need to shake off the rust.
The betting is tight but Boston Common has momentum and that’s been key in TGL.
McIlroy, Bradley and Thorbjorsen have gelled straight away and can reel off a third straight victory together.
