Champions League Best Bets Knockout Phase Second Leg Borussia Dortmund

Atalanta vs. Borussia Dortmund

Both Teams to Score (-150) at bet365

Atalanta have work to do in the second leg of this play-off. They succumbed to a 2-0 defeat by Borussia Dortmund in the away fixture, as goals from Serhou Guirassy and Max Beier put the Germany outfit two goals to the good in the opening period at Signal Iduna Park. In truth, Atalanta were outclassed.

The tie is not over yet, but Dortmund are strong favourites to reach the round of 16 from here. A goal at the New Balance Arena would put Atalanta in a precarious position. The Italians are likely to score themselves, but a clean sheet will be beyond them. Goals at both ends is the way to go in this one.

Atletico Madrid vs. Club Brugge

Over 3.5 Goals (+100) at bet365

The cliche that Atletico Madrid are a defensive side no longer stands up to scrutiny. That was their identity for much of Diego Simeone’s time in charge, but things have been different this season. The 3-3 draw with Club Brugge in the first leg of this tie is just the latest example.

Atletico have not kept a clean sheet in Europe all season. They have scored 20 goals and conceded 18, which means their matches are averaging 4.22 strikes per 90 minutes. We should see another thrilling affair when Club Brugge head to the Spanish capital this week.

Juventus vs. Galatasaray

Juventus/Juventus Half-Time/Full-Time (+120) at bet365

Juventus were demolished 5-2 by Galatasaray last time out, leaving them on the brink of elimination. A red card shown to Juan Cabal midway through the second half, when Juve only trailed 3-2, clearly did not help Luciano Spalletti’s side. But Juventus still should have done much better in the first leg in Turkey.

The Bianconeri were defensively brittle in the first game and they must improve in that regard here. Home advantage should work in their favor, but whether it is enough for Juventus to overturn a three-goal deficit remains to be seen. Still, we expect them to triumph in the 90 minutes in Turin at least.

Real Madrid vs. Benfica

Real Madrid to Win the First Half (-110) at bet365

The first leg of this play-off was overshadowed by the alleged racist abuse of Vinicius Junior by a Benfica player. It was a shocking incident and one which must be comprehensively investigated by UEFA. On the pitch, Vinicius scored the only goal of the match as Real Madrid won 1-0 at the Estadio da Luz.

That puts them in pole position to advance to the round of 16. Madrid are in fine form under Alvaro Arbeloa, and their record in the first half of matches has been strong all season. Benfica are likely to find themselves behind at the interval on Wednesday, which would make their task all the more difficult.

Inter vs Bodo/Glimt

Bodo/Glimt to Qualify (-111) at bet365

This tie is delicately poised. A superb 3-1 victory for Bodo/Glimt last week has given them a genuine shot at reaching the last 16. That would be a magnificent accomplishment when you consider the size of the club compared to Inter, and their respective histories. No Bodo/Glimt fan will forget that 3-1 win in a hurry.

It is easy to assume Inter will overturn that deficit, but we are not so sure. Bodo/Glimt are a smart side and the pressure is now all on their opponents, who finished as runners-up in this competition last term. No one should be surprised if Bodo/Glimt complete the job at San Siro on Tuesday.

Newcastle United vs. Qarabag

Both Teams to Score (+137) at bet365

Newcastle United have one foot in the round of 16 following their 6-1 thrashing of Qarabag last time out. The Azerbaijani outfit are playing for pride and pride alone on Tuesday, when Newcastle will officially secure their passage to the next stage of the tournament.

The overall outcome is not in doubt, but the sheer size of Newcastle’s lead may see them take their foot off the gas at some point, especially if Howe shuffles his pack with an eye on upcoming matches. With that in mind, Qarabag could score against the Premier League team once again.
