Game 4 of the World Series produced a series-low one home run. But with the way these two teams have swung the bats all series, that’s unlikely to be the case again in Game 5. After all, both bullpens are tired, and both starting pitchers are making their second start of the series. With that in mind, we’ve picked out our four top home run targets for Game 5.

It’s hard not to target Ohtani to hit a home run in every game. Granted, he went 0 for 3 with two strikeouts in Game 4, but he was also a little distracted by being the starting pitcher. After Monday’s 18-inning marathon, he was already a little tired.
By Wednesday night, Ohtani will have gotten a full night of sleep and be ready to hit the reset button. This is still the player who went 4 for 4 with two doubles and two home runs on Monday. The Blue Jays don’t have an answer for him, and it’ll be hard to effectively pitch around him every at-bat, so the home run threat is there.

Guerrero finally got his first home run of the series on Tuesday, which is a good omen for him. After all, he hit home runs in back-to-back games in both the ALDS and the ALCS. That would point to Guerrero hitting a home run for the second straight day on Wednesday.
On top of that, Guerrero has a nine-game hitting streak and is batting .419 in the postseason. Even with a lot of empty at-bats in Monday’s 18-inning game, he’s still 7 for 19 (.368) during the World Series. Outside of Ohtani, he’s the most dangerous hitter in this series, so there is every reason to back him to go deep again in Game 5.

Hernandez has hit five home runs during the postseason, making him the best power threat the Dodgers have outside of Ohtani. While the Los Angeles lineup, as a whole, was stifled on Tuesday, Hernandez is just one day removed from going 4 for 8 with a home run in Game 3.
Granted, with Trey Yesavage starting for the Blue Jays, home runs will be tough for the Dodgers. However, Yesavage is less effective against right-handed batters than left-handed batters because he can’t use his splitter as much. During the regular season, Hernandez hit 19 of his 25 home runs against righties, making this a surprisingly good matchup for him.

As expected, Kirk went hitless in Game 4, one day after catching most of the 18-inning game on Monday. But he’s poised for a bounce-back game on Wednesday. After hitting home runs in Games 1 and 3, he’s become Toronto’s best power source outside of Guerrero.
The kicker is that Kirk is 5 for 7 in his career against Blake Snell, who gets the ball in Game 5. Of course, Snell hasn’t given up a lot of home runs this season. However, Kirk has had his number in the past and is in the midst of a power surge, hitting five homers during the postseason, making him a good target for Game 5.
