NBA Player Props and Best Bets: LeBron James, Alpergen Sengun & More Picks for Thursday, April 9

There are only two or three games left in the regular season for every team in the NBA, and I’m back with my best player prop picks for Thursday.

Chet Holmgren produced 30 points, 14 rebounds, and four blocks in the Oklahoma City Thunder’s win over the Los Angeles Clippers, and later in the day, Devin Booker dropped 37 points and nine assists to lead the Phoenix Suns past the Dallas Mavericks.

Thursday’s matchups are headlined by the New York Knicks hosting the Boston Celtics, as well as the Golden State Warriors adding another chapter in their rivalry with LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Here are my top NBA player prop picks and bets for Thursday, April 9.

Best NBA Player Props Today 2026 04 09 Rockets Alperen Sengun

Jakob Poeltl Over 10.5 Points (-125) at BetMGM Sportsbook

Poeltl dropped 17 points on 61.5 percent shooting in his last game against, guess who, the Miami Heat. He’s now gone over this number in six of his last seven games as he prepares to face the Heat for the second time in three days.

The 7-foot big man split the over/under in two previous matchups with the Heat this season, but he’s been efficient and consistently getting to the over in recent weeks. The Heat also allowed the fifth-most points per game over their last 15 contests.

OG Anunoby Under 2.5 Threes (+100) at BetMGM Sportsook

Anunoby went over in three straight games and shot 53.6 percent from beyond the arc to start April, but he also went under in six of nine games just before that. He has now made 2.4 threes per game on 38.8 percent shooting from three for the year overall.

The New York Knicks are about to take on the Boston Celtics, whose injury report is littered with questionable designations, making it unclear who will be available tonight. That said, Anunoby went under in his only matchup with the C’s, and he cannot sustain his recent level of shooting efficiency for very long.

VJ Edgecombe Over 4.5 Rebounds (-150) at BetMGM Sportsbook

Edgecombe has had an exciting rookie season that has been lost in the wash of Cooper Flagg and Kon Knueppel’s excellence. He averaged 5.6 rebounds per game and went over in seven of his last 10 games, and he also had seven rebounds in his only previous matchup with the Houston Rockets.

The Rockets were one of the best rebounding teams in the league all year, and that hasn’t changed over the last few weeks. Even still, this is a very low number for a player who has proven himself productive and has the profile to compete on the glass with the physical Rockets.

LeBron James Over 9.5 Assists (+100) at BetMGM Sportsbook

LeBron led the NBA in assists early in his Lakers tenure when he moved to playing full-time point guard for the first time in his career. That’s the role that he’s going to be taking on without Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves available for selection, which is why I’m bullish on his chances tonight.

The King dished out 15 assists against the Dallas Mavericks in his last game, and he already had nine and 10 assists in two previous encounters with the Golden State Warriors this season. The Dubs are also a bottom-half team when it comes to limiting their opponents’ assists.

Alperen Sengun Under 18.5 Points (-111) at BetMGM Sportsbook

Sengun averaged 20.5 points per game and went over in four of his last six outings, but I’m not feeling very confident in his prospects tonight. He went under in three of four career games against Joel Embiid and never scored more than 19 points, and he also scored 13 points on 35.7 percent shooting in their only matchup this year.

The Philadelphia 76ers are far from a great defensive team, ranking 19th in average points allowed over their last 15 contests. Still, Sengun seems to struggle with this opponent, and the full-strength Rockets have other options to handle the scoring on offense.
