Philadelphia’s AJ Brown hauled in just two catches for seven yards in week four
Brown’s odds to win the offensive player of the year award continues to plummet
The Denver Broncos defense ranks top-10 in Def DVOA, EPA, and in Sack Rate
It has been a horrific start to the year for AJ Brown as the star wide receiver heads into week five averaging just 37.8 yards per game. With the Denver Broncos fielding a front seven who excels at collapsing the pocket, as well as a secondary who thrives in coverage, expect Brown to continue to struggle and put together another disappointing performance.

After playing a key role in the Philadelphia Eagles run to the Super Bowl last year, AJ Brown has struggled to build on his momentum as the star wide receiver is averaging less than 40 yards per game through the first four weeks of the season. A stunning drop off in production for a player who averaged 83.0 yards per game and 16.1 per catch in 2024.
More stunning yet, Brown is still seeing a healthy dose of targets which makes his lack of results even more alarming. Outside of his one Target in game one, Brown is averaging nine Targets per game in weeks two through four. While some of the blame can be pointed towards his quarterback Jalen Hurts, Brown’s Catch Rate of 50% tells a bigger story.
Unfortunately for Brown, his struggles are poised to persist against Denver as he faces off against a Broncos defense who ranks near the top of the board in Def DVOA and in Pass Rush Win Rate. With the Broncos consistently collapsing the pocket, Brown will have less time in the open field to break away from their suffocating coverage which lessens the quality of Hurts passing lanes.

Correlating this prop with the previously mentioned one, Brown having less time in the open field to create separation also hurts his ability to generate an explosive play. Especially with the Broncos anchoring their linebackers in coverage at a heavy rate as their defense ranks above league average in Blitz Rate. With more bodies across the middle, the Broncos chances of stopping Brown at the point of contact drastically increases.
To make matters worse for the disgruntled receiver, Brown may also see a decrease in his total number of Targets should Hurts be forced into more scrambling situations due to the Broncos interior pressure. Philadelphia's offensive line have underwhelmed in pass sets this year as the Eagles front five currently ranks in the bottom half of the board in Pass Protection Win Rate.

While Brown has struggled to make an impact in the middle of the field, he still has managed to carve out a role when inside the 20 as he currently leads the team in total Red Zone Targets. With Saquon Barkley commanding defensive attention towards the middle of the field, Brown receives more single coverage on the outside which increases his chances of creating space.
The Eagles fielding a deep group of pass catchers will also have the Broncos secondary stretched out thin in the shortened field which helps create wider gaps for Brown to exploit. For some more exposure, escalator bet Brown’s anytime touchdown scoring prop by placing smaller wagers on his alternate totals at the best available odds across multiple sportsbooks.
