A new dimension in sports betting was born last week when BetMGM joined forces with the chain of Buffalo Wild Wing restaurants.
BetMGM and the popular restaurant chain Buffalo Wild Wings will provide sports fans with a unique sports betting experience when placing wagers through the BetMGM app inside Buffalo Wild Wings sports bars exclusively in six states including Colorado, New Jersey, Indiana, Iowa, Tennessee, and West Virginia. An executive for Buffalo Wild Wings says they hope to expand the footprint as sports betting grows around the United States.
The partnership between the two companies began in September 2019. At that time, it was hailed as a “first-of-its-kind alignment between a national sports bar and a gaming leader. Since the announcement, more than 500,000 users have participated in BWW and BetMGM free-to-play games.
During that time, the plan was to offer a sports betting plus dining promotion nationwide to the extent possible under each state’s laws. Later that year, BetRivers announced a similar partnership with the Wells Fargo Center, allowing Philadelphia Flyers fans the opportunity to place sports bets while they watched NHL. Due to COVID-19 and indoor restrictions the plan was suspended.
Matt Prevost, Chief Revenue Officer for BetMGM, said in a statement:
Our partnership with Buffalo Wild Wings is incredibly innovative and allows BetMGM to redefine how fans enjoy sports. The introduction of geolocation technology to offer bettors a customized experience in a Buffalo Wild Wings location is a great example of what we’re able to activate through this groundbreaking relationship.
In addition to the exclusive promotions, BetMGM will also provide BWW customers with an in-bar challenge. The challenge is called OT Odds Powered by BetMGM where they will see specific odds aired on the individual TV screens in the restaurants.
These odds will appear randomly and will be different from live in-game betting options to fantasy sports and exclusive betting advice for restaurant customers. Each state that offers mobile wagering will also have access to new Blazin’ Bets on the BetMGM app. This will give people the opportunity to obtain curated boosts, bets, and parlays exclusively available only in Buffalo Wild Wings restaurants.
Rita Patel, Chief Marketing Officer of Buffalo Wild Wings said:
Fans wagering on sports inside Buffalo Wild Wings can now win bigger on select bets thanks to our innovative partnership with BetMGM. As sports betting continues to grow throughout the country, we look forward to further expanding our footprint in the space and activating our partnership with BetMGM in ways that make the experience at our sports bars second to none.
There are currently about 30 Buffalo Wild Wings locations in Pennsylvania including their newest location at the King of Prussia Mall near Philadelphia. It is one of the largest shopping malls in the US.
Representatives from BWW have disclosed that geolocation technology, necessary to run the enhanced odds feature with BetMGM are not yet “live” in Pennsylvania restaurant locations but will be available soon, making PA their seventh state participating in the program.
