Entain Fdn. Auctioning NFTs to Raise Money to Support Responsible Gambling Cause

When raising money to fund even the best of causes, creativity is a must now because modern donors have likely seen most everything up for bid, so give Entain Foundation U.S. an A+ for originality as they auction off a collection of “Superheroes of Responsible Gambling” NFTs.

These NFTs on the auction block are a group of sharp, brightly colored 2D designs and GIFs that represent superhero characters with the visage of prominent leaders and themes of the Responsible Gambling movement in the U.S.

Martin Lycka, Entain Senior Vice President for North American Regulatory Affairs and Responsible Gambling, explains the inspiration behind this outside-the-box idea:

“These NFTs are a creative and fun way to promote the very serious message of Responsible Gambling to all audiences using methods, tools and programming that are attuned to today’s technology and communications.”

The five NFTs up for bid each represent a ‘superhero’ of the Responsible Gambling movement.

Five NFTs Feature “Superheroes of RG” Including Former NBA All-Star Charles Oakley

For those new to the world of NFTs, it stands for a non-fungible token, which is a “unique digital identifier that cannot be copied, substituted, or subdivided, that is recorded in a blockchain, and that is used to certify authenticity and ownership,” which means it’s yours forever and ever.

Each of Entain’s first five “Superheroes of Responsible Gambling” NFTs represent a key figure in the movement, including former NBA All-Star Charles Oakley, who told the press:

“My post-NBA work is focused on preventing problems among underserved groups. This is one way to reach people where they are, using tools that they use, to provide a positive message about responsible gambling.”

In terms of his NFT, Oakley is ‘Charles, the Limits Enforcer’ who hovers above the ground and wields his potent shield to defend wise limits choices folks have made.

There’s also:

·       Martin (Lycka, Entain VP), the RG Preacher who deploys his cerebral powers to educate folks about healthy gambling patterns.

·       Bo (Grey, Founder of Wager Score), the Affordability Man who uses a super-duper software engine to determine whether other bros have the means to play.

·       Brianne (Doura-Schawohl, RG consultant), the Helpline Wizardress who has many spells up her sleeve to connect the gambling nation with a line of helpers.

·       BP3 (Bill Pascrell, partner at Princeton Public Affairs Group), the Timeout Doctor who nurtures magical powers to call a timeout on people's play in the event of misjudgment.

It’s not the first time Entain has dabbled in NFT auctions.

Prior NFTs From Entain Used to Teach the Nine Markers of Gambling Problems

Back in June, Entain launched responsible gambling NFTs representing nine areas of concern around disordered gambling, those available for purchase on OpenSea.

Those NFTs feature visuals such as blinking eyes to represent late-night play, and an array of calendars highlighting players who have had a high number of depositing days.

Proceeds from all of Entain’s NFT sales and their “Superheroes” auction will be donated to the Charles Oakley Foundation to fund their ability to educate the underserved and more.

Prioritizing Responsible Gambling is key to a successful U.S. legal sports betting market as more and more Americans discover the thrill of putting a few bucks on their favorite team, an activity that, in moderation, can make an already exciting matchup even more exhilarating.
