Jared Goff and Baker Mayfield both rank among the top three quarterbacks in the NFL in touchdown passes.
Jahmyr Gibbs has only surpassed 70 rushing yards twice this season, while also making just five total receptions in his last three games.
Rachaad White is poised to be Tampa’s feature back in Week 7 after rushing for 65 yards last week while starter Bucky Irving is injured.
NFL fans are getting spoiled in Week 7 with another Monday Night doubleheader. The opening game between the Detroit Lions and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is particularly intriguing. These are two of the best teams in the NFC through six weeks, with the two quarterbacks both playing at a high level. That makes this a great game to place player props.
At this point in the season, both Jared Goff of the Lions and Baker Mayfield of the Buccaneers are among the leading NFL MVP contenders. You will also find Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Lions and Emeka Egbuka fighting to lead the NFL in receiving yards. Meanwhile, Egbuka has emerged as the favorite to win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.
With two good quarterbacks and talented playmakers on both sides, we thought we’d offer a little help making prop bets for Monday’s game. We’re using odds from bet365 Sportsbook, which always offers a wide selection of player props. After six games, Mayfield is tied for the third-most passing touchdowns in the NFL with 12. Granted, Jared Goff has the most, but Mayfield is the better target for this particular prop bet. Goff has had two games in which he failed to throw multiple touchdown passes, whereas Mayfield has thrown at least two touchdowns in five of Tampa’s six games.
Of course, the Detroit defense also plays a factor in this bet. The Lions have conceded 13 passing touchdowns in six games, with only three teams allowing more. Tampa’s defense has been a little stingier than that, so Goff may have a tougher time than usual. Mayfield, on the other hand, has been consistent with his touchdown passes and is facing a weak secondary.

The Buccaneers have one of the best rush defenses in the NFL thus far. They’ve allowed the sixth-fewest total rushing yards and have the fifth-lowest yards per carry against them, holding opposing rushers to just 3.7 yards per carry. That doesn’t bode well for Gibbs, who is still sharing carries with David Montgomery.
Gibbs has been held under 87.5 rushing and receiving yards in back-to-back weeks, meaning he’s failed to eclipse that number in half of Detroit’s games. As mentioned, the Tampa defense is tough against the run. Also, Gibbs has just five total catches in six targets across his last three games. He’s not getting much use in the passing game right now, making it harder for him to rack up a lot of yards on the ground or through the air Monday night.

The key to this bet is the fact that Bucky Irving is trending toward missing his third straight game. That leaves White as Tampa’s featured back. Sean Tucker has been the backup behind White the past two weeks, but he has just 10 total carries on the season. While Tucker was productive last week, the Bucs are likely to give White most of the backfield work, making it realistic for him to go beyond 50 yards on the ground.
Last week, White had 65 rushing yards on 17 carries. Despite gaining just 3.8 yards per carry, he easily went over 50.5 yards. Assuming he gets around the same touches this week, he should have no trouble hitting this prop bet. The Lions have been rather average against the run this year, giving up four yards per carry. It might only take White a dozen or so carries to top 50 rushing yards, so unless Irving is healthy and active, backing White is a safe bet.
