The Bills' offense is averaging the second-most points and yards in the NFL
New England’s defense ranks 3rd against the run, but 26th against the pass
The Pats are allowing opponents to average a 103.3 passer rating
This week’s Sunday Night Football matchup brings us a sneaky good AFC East matchup. The undefeated Buffalo Bills will be hosting a young and exciting New England Patriots team. Will the upstart team be able to hand the Bills their first loss, or will Buffalo roll to a 5-0 start to the 2025 season?

The Bills have scored 30+ points in all four of their games this season, and they will have a great chance to do so tonight against a bad Pats defense.
While New England's defensive stats aren’t ugly, they are inflated due to an easy start to the season. That success won’t carry over on the road this week against a Buffalo offense averaging the second-most yards (404) and points (33.3) in the league. Expect Josh Allen and James Cook to dominate, putting up more than half the points needed to cover this total.
The Bills' defense has been incredible against the pass, but they can be beaten on the ground. The backfield combo of Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson isn’t overwhelming, but add in quarterback Drake Maye’s running ability, and you have a game plan to move the ball against the Bills.

Stevenson and Henderson seem to be at a 50/50 split for carries, but we see Stevenson as the better bet on Sunday Night Football. Since a brutal showing in the Pats' opening game against the Raiders, Stevenson has rushed 24 times for 110 yards, averaging 4.58 YPC. The veteran back has been impressive when healthy, despite missing numerous games due to injuries over the last few seasons.
We talked about the Bills' run defense above, which is a big problem against a back that’s done well against them in the past. When these two teams met in Buffalo late last season, he averaged 5.0 YPC for 60 yards and a touchdown. The Pats offense has improved since then, which will open up more room for the back. While Henderson will steal carries, we believe Stevenson won’t need many to cover this total.

The 2024 NFL MVP has not eclipsed this mark since Week 1, but that can be attributed to their impressive run game dominating weak defenses. That will change tonight against the Pats' defense, which has a massive weakness against the pass.
The New England defense is allowing the second-fewest rushing yards per game (77.5) in the league, but ranks 26th against the pass (241.5 YPG). We believe James Cook and Allen will do damage on the ground, but the pass game will be relied upon for all four quarters. That will be a problem for the Pats, who are allowing an opposing passer rating of 103.3.
