The Chargers have lost three of their previous four games
Justin Jefferson had 17 catches for 249 yards over Weeks 5 and 6
Oronde Gadsden had 14 catches for 232 yards and a touchdown over the last two games
This week’s edition of Thursday Night Football features two teams desperate for a win. On one side are the hosting Los Angeles Chargers, who have lost three of their previous four games after starting 3-0. On the other hand, the Minnesota Vikings find themselves in last place in the NFC North despite a .500 record. That sets us up for a high-stakes Week 8 matchup, and plenty of chances to win some money with a same-game parlay.
We’ll provide insights into each leg of our favorite same-game parlay for this matchup, using odds from Caesars Sportsbook, one of our top-rated parlay betting sites.

After starting the season 3-0, the Chargers look like a very different team. They have now lost three of their last four, along with breakout rookie running back Omarion Hampton. The run defense has also shown it can be a significant vulnerability, allowing a 5.1 YPC average, the fourth-highest in the NFL.
We all know about Justin Jefferson and Minnesota’s passing game, but running back Jordan Mason has been doing an excellent job since taking the starting role over. He has 380 rushing yards and four touchdowns while averaging an impressive 4.5 YPC. He will thrive against a soft Chargers defense, forcing them to stack more players in the box. That will give Carson Wentz and the passing game room to work, which could lead Minnesota to a win.
Speaking of running backs, the Chargers were missing Hampton badly last week. The rest of the position group has not looked sharp, forcing this dangerous offense to become one-dimensional. That is a big problem, especially when facing a blitz-heavy defense like the Vikings.

The Chargers' pass defense has been very good in 2025, but so has Justin Jefferson. The generational talent has continued to thrive despite the Vikings' quarterback issues. He and Carson Wentz have formed a nice connection, connecting 17 times on 22 targets for 249 yards in Weeks 4 and 5.
The young superstar was “contained” for 79 yards on five catches last week, but was facing a Philly team with the most talented cornerback room in the NFL. He was still targeted ten times, marking the third consecutive game with a double-digit target total.
We do believe the Chargers' pass defense is one of the league’s best, but they have faced some easier tests to start the season. While that’s allowed them to post impressive stats, it will make facing a receiver like Jefferson even more difficult.

The fifth-round draft pick disappeared from the offensive game plan in Weeks 3 and 4, but that has changed dramatically over the last two games. Oronde Gadsden has a combined 14 catches for 232 yards and a touchdown over that span, with 164 coming the previous week against the Colts.
LA’s receiving corps has more talented passcatchers than Gadsden, but its connection with Herbert has been second-to-none over the last two weeks. The Chargers have young and talented receivers in Quentin Johnston and Ladd McConkey, but the big tight end gives him a bigger target with equally reliable hands, leading to plenty of looks from Herbert.
The Vikings' defense ranks in the top ten of the league in passing yards allowed per game (184.0), thanks mainly to the pressure generated by their front seven. However, they rank in the bottom ten in opposing passer rating (101.0).
