UFC 327: Prochazka vs. Ulberg - Odds, Predictions & Picks

The light heavyweight title is up for grabs in the headline bout at UFC 327 this Saturday, as former champion Jiří Procházka squares off against New Zealander Carlos Ulberg, who is on a nine-fight win streak.

I’ve gone through each of the main fights on the UFC 327 card, exploring the latest odds, and have given my prediction for each bout below.

Jiri Prochazka vs. Carlos Ulberg - Light Heavyweight Division

Prochazka was unable to reclaim the light heavyweight title against Alex Pereira back in November 2023, and was beaten once again in the rematch less than a year later. With the Brazilian fighter moving to the heavyweight division, the light heavyweight title is vacant once more. Prochazka is hoping to take back the title, but will have to defeat Ulberg to do so. The Czech fighter is the -125 favorite with FanDuel this Saturday.

Ulberg’s nine-fight streak sees him enter this bout with excellent momentum, especially after defeating some respectable names of late, including Volkan Oezdemir, Jan Błachowicz, and, most recently, Dominick Reyes. The 35-year-old has suffered just one loss in the UFC, getting knocked out by Kennedy Nzechukwu over five years ago.

This bout will come down to who is the best striker on the night. Ulberg will look to control the distance and utilize his technical abilities, while Prochazka’s power and unpredictability could very much cause problems. Prochazka can also make the most of his three-inch reach advantage to extend this fight into the deeper championship rounds, something which Ulberg is yet to experience.

Azamat Murzakanov vs. Paulo Costa - Light Heavyweight Division

It’s an important night in the light heavyweight division this Saturday. Undefeated and No. 6 ranked Murzakanov is the -205 favorite with FanDuel, and aims to set himself up for a shot at the championship with a victory here. He’ll have to defeat Paulo Costa first, however, who got back in the win column with a win over Roman Kopylov last July.

Not only has Murzakanov yet to lose during his pro career, he’s also 6-0 since entering the UFC in 2022. Three straight finishes against Alonzo Menifield, Brendson Ribeiro, and Aleksandar Rakić puts him in good stead to defeat Costa in this bout, particularly since “Borrachinha” has lost four of his last six fights.

While Costa has struggled to find much form ahead of this clash, he will need to make the most of his durability and aggression. He has only been finished once in his career, meaning Murzakanov may have to go the distance, which he has only done once since joining the promotion.

Curtis Blaydes vs. Josh Hokit - Heavyweight Division

It’s been a mixed bag for Blaydes over the last two years, going 2-2 over his last four fights. He bounced back from a knockout loss to Sergei Pavlovich in April 2023 with a victory over Jailton Almeida at UFC 299, but failed to claim the interim Heavyweight Championship belt against Tom Aspinall in July 2024. He’s hoping to further his claims as a Top-5 contender in a clash against undefeated Hokit in Miami, and is the -138 favorite with FanDuel.

Hokit has claimed back-to-back early finishes in his UFC career thus far, securing TKO victories over Max Gimenis and Denzel Freeman. How he performs against Blaydes will be the litmus test for his current ability in the heavyweight division, and if he is able to secure a win, he will quickly rise up the rankings and be taken seriously as a contender.

Blaydes has shaken off some malaise after the Aspinall loss with a win over Rizvan Kuniev last June. However, it was only via split decision, so a more decisive triumph here would put his mind at ease. Hokit has the athleticism to cause anyone issues, but Blaydes can control the fight with his superior size, experience, and wrestling skills.

Dominick Reyes vs. Johnny Walker - Light Heavyweight Division

Light heavyweight action opens up on the main card with Reyes taking on Walker, as the pair aim to rise up the rankings following recent skids. Reyes is the -138 favorite with FanDuel for the bout, despite losing five of his last eight matchups. Walker doesn’t have the greatest of momentum heading into this clash, either, losing two of his last three.

After “The Devastator" hit a four-fight skid from February 2020 to November 2022, he had to work hard to retain his Top-10 rank. However, he managed to win three fights against Dustin Jacoby, Anthony Smith, and Nikita Krylov to mark his resurgence. He does head into this one though after getting knocked out by Ulberg last September.

As for Walker, he enters the Octagon on the back of a TKO triumph over Zhang Mingyang last August. That said, he did lose in back-to-back fights prior to that against Oezdemir and Magomed Ankalaev. This is a tough fight to call and could go either way. It certainly has Fight of the Night potential.

Cub Swanson vs. Nate Landwehr - Featherweight Division

Veteran Swanson will go up against Landwehr in his retirement fight in Miami, and is aiming for back-to-back wins to finish his pro career after defeating Billy Quarantillo in his last bout. He’s the narrow -106 favorite with FanDuel to beat “The Train”, who has lost his last two consecutive fights against Choi Doo-ho and Morgan Charrière.

Cub’s opening line was giving plus money value, so he’s significantly shortened as we edge closer to the fight. He’s proven he can still compete at this level after the knockout triumph over Quarantillo last time out, but Landwehr won’t make things easy and will provide a good bit of entertainment value. Prior to Landwehr’s last two defeats, he had won four of five.
