Felix Cash vs Vaughn Alexander: Pre-fight Talk Focuses on Cash but It Would Be Foolish to Ignore His Opponent

  • The vacant WBA International middleweight title is on the line here
  • Felix Cash has a perfect record of 15 wins from as many bouts
  • Vaughn Alexander has won 17, lost six and drawn one so far

This weekend, professional boxing comes from the O2 Arena in London, England, where fight fans will enjoy a stacked card promoted by UK boxing chief Eddie Hearn for Matchroom. This arena has staged some memorable bouts over the years. It gives us what promises to be another classic in the main event when Derek Chisora takes on Kubrat Pulev over 12 rounds.

All the talk focuses on that top-of-the-bill clash which will have fans on the edge of their seats from the first bell as WAR Chisora aims to snap a three-fight losing streak. Will the popular British heavyweight who has lost to Oleksandr Usyk and Joseph Parker twice make an overdue return to winning ways, or will he continue to slip down the rankings?

Despite the main event’s attention, we focus on a clash from the undercard that pairs two ambitious fighters battling for a respected title. Felix Cash and Vaughn Alexander face off for the chance to hold the WBA International middleweight title, which is currently vacant. Cash has the backing of the home support inside the London venue but knows he can’t afford to look past Saturday’s opponent.

There are two reasons why we chose to focus on this fixture from the undercard. Number one, traders working at all major betting apps are preoccupied with finding the winner of Chisora vs Pulev and appear to have taken their eye off the ball here. Number two, this is another example of good matchmaking from the Matchroom team. We believe solving this puzzle will bring us a greater reward than following the crowd and predicting the outcome of Chisora’s bout.

The table above includes the odds for the fight winner betting market, showing the prices offered by major online sportsbook Caesars Sportsbook on both men and the draw. The odds listed are correct at the time of writing. Still, it’s worth remembering that boxing odds can change, and the offer made to you when placing your bet may be different from what was available to us when researching and publishing this preview.

In addition to the fight winner betting market covered above, the leading online betting apps offer several exciting options, such as the method of victory, total rounds and other specials. We have trawled the options and reported on our findings, promoting any decent markets, odds and bets.

Felix Cash Vs Vaughn Alexander

Cash arrives for this bout in the UK capital with a perfect professional record detailing 15 wins from as many bouts, with 10 of those victories coming by knockout. He made his debut in 2016 with a four-round points win at this venue and has worked his way through the ranks since, winning respected titles and becoming a force in the middleweight division.

The 29-year-old from Berkshire is currently ranked second in the UK behind Chris Eubank Jr and 14th in the world, a list topped by the hard-hitting, pound-for-pound star Gennady Golovkin.

Felix has a big future ahead of him, but defeat in this contest would knock him off his stride, delaying his chances of contesting major honours. Fans want to see him in an all-British showdown with Eubank Jnr in a year or two and keep on that track. Cash must continue to score impressive wins, gather no followers and keep active.

He was last seen in action beating Magomed Madiev on points over ten rounds for the WBC International title at the Alexandra Palace earlier this year. That was the first time Cash has troubled the scoring judges sat at ringside for a decision since 2018 when beating Stephen Danyo at the Copper Box for a WBC International Silver title.

With four of his last five wins coming inside the distance, there won’t be a mad rush from backers to get their stake on a second points win on the bounce for Cash. Another knockout is sure to be more popular, and you can back Cash for a KO/TKO win on the Caesars Sportsbook. Registered members of that bookie can place their bets now using the website or smartphone app but if you’re not already a member, click on any link to Caesars Sportsbook you find on this page to get started. Cash vs Alexander Prediction

All the pre-fight talk concentrates on Cash, which is understandable, but it would be foolish to write off his opponent without affording him the respect he deserves. Alexander is here on merit and carries his ambition of winning major titles. The American is battle-hardened and won’t pay too much attention to the English crowd and their support for his opponent.

The 36-year-old from Saint Louis, Missouri, has a record detailing 17 wins against six defeats and one draw, with ten victories coming by stoppage. He has lost inside the distance just once, beaten in round two by Zach Parker. That loss came in England at the Copper Box last March and is part of a sketchy run of form that has seen the American win only half of his last ten bouts, with four defeats and a draw included in that run.

Vaughn has won each of his last two bouts, beating Luis Arias on a split decision at the Staples Center in Los Angeles before stopping Sergio Samuel Castellano in round one last time out. Despite losing three on the bounce, Alexander travels to England unbeaten in his three most recent bouts.
