NBA Player Props and Best Bets: Luka Doncic, LaMelo Ball & More Picks for Sunday, Jan. 18

It's the end of another week, and I’m back to reveal my top NBA player prop picks for Sunday.

Anthony Edwards dropped a career-high 55 points last night, but Victor Wembanyama’s 39 points were enough to get the San Antonio Spurs over the line. Jaylen Brown also stayed hot, dropping 41 points and six rebounds in a win over the Atlanta Hawks.

The best game on Sunday is setting up to be the Los Angeles Lakers against the Toronto Raptors, although the Memphis Grizzlies and Orlando Magic will add an international flavor as they prepare to take the court at the O2 in London, England.

Here are my best NBA player prop picks and bets for Sunday, Jan. 18.

Best NBA Prop Bets Today January 18

LaMelo Ball under 19.5 points (-130) at FanDuel Sportsbook

Ball took a backseat in the Charlotte Hornets’ loss to the Golden State Warriors last night, only scoring 15 points on 29.4 percent shooting. He went under this line in six of his last nine games and only shot 42.9 percent from the floor in 26 average minutes in January.

The Denver Nuggets are a solid 11th in points allowed per game since Nikola Jokic went out of the lineup 10 games ago. They also kept the Washington Wizards’ trying backcourt to 17 combined points on 6-24 shooting just last night, while Kon Kneuppel and Brandon Miller had the hot hands for the Hornets.

Egor Demin over 12.5 points (-130) at FanDuel Sportsbook

Demin was pretty pathetic in Friday’s matchup with the Chicago Bulls, only scoring five points on 25 percent shooting in 19 minutes. That said, he went over this line in four of his last six games and appears to have developed into a strong three-point shooter making as many as seven threes in one game at the end of December and shooting 51.1 percent from beyond the arc in January.

As the Brooklyn Nets prepare for a rematch against the Bulls, Demin gets to face one of the worst defenses in the sport, as well as a team that plays at one of the quickest pace. The extra possessions should help him get over this line as long as he gets his usual minutes count.

Luka Doncic over 35.5 points (-118) at FanDuel Sportsbook

It’s pretty ridiculous that I’m willing to take the over with Doncic when his line is already that high. However, he went over in four of his last seven games and put up 38 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists in his last game without LeBron James and Austin Reaves, against the San Antonio Spurs, on Jan. 7.

The Raptors rank inside the top 10 in points allowed per game, but I’d be shocked if the Raptors approached this game with a focus on slowing down Doncic. Nobody else on the Lakers can score effectively, so as long as they stay attached to their assignments, they shouldn’t lose a game of one-on-five.

Yves Missi over 5.5 rebounds (+102) at FanDuel Sportsbook

This one is definitely off of the beaten path. Missi went over in four of his last seven games, but he still isn’t playing tons of minutes, logging just 20.2 in January and six in his last matchup with the Houston Rockets on Dec. 18.

The Rockets are outstanding on the glass and frequently deploy a double-big lineup, which the New Orleans Pelicans will have to match with their personnel. I believe Missi will see an increase in usage tonight, helping him to cash the over.

Shaedon Sharpe under 2.5 threes (-125) at FanDuel Sportsbook

Sharpe is having a great start to the New Year, but he went under this line in four of his last five games and only shot 34.5 percent from deep in January. He’s also meeting a Sacramento Kings team that allowed the lowest three-point percentage (30.6) in the NBA over their last 10 contests.

Sharpe split the over/under with two and four made threes in two previous matchups with the Kings. He doesn’t take a ton of attempts per game (6.1 in January), so I think he’ll end up going under.
