Chicago’s offence continues to sputter, as they’re struggling to overcome Milwaukee’s length and versatility. The Bucks are on a roll and their success from range, on top of their defence, put the series in their favor.

How can the Bulls beat the Bucks?

If Chicago wants to stave off elimination, they need to clean up the defensive side of the ball. Their offence is already struggling, so if they want to find a victory they need to slow down the Bucks’ shooters.

In Game 4, the Milwaukee Bucks’ shooting was scorching. They shot 52.3% from the field while also converting on 51.5% of their three-point shots. Considering the Bulls ranked 6th in the league in three-point field goals allowed through the regular season, their current defence is way off the mark.

With Alex Caruso, and likely Zach LaVine, unavailable for this game, the Bulls have next to no room for error on the defensive end. If they can’t find a good defensive effort in Game 5, it’ll be curtains for the Bulls’ playoff hopes.

Bulls Key Player: (G-F) DeMar DeRozan

The responsibility falls to DeMar DeRozan, to lead his Bulls to victory in Game 5. Considering both LaVine and Caruso are likely to be unavailable for this game, DeRozan will need to put up one of his best performances to beat the Bucks.

Through the series, DeRozan has led the Bulls in the scoring column. The Bulls All-Star has averaged 23.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 1.5 steals through four games. He’s shot 40% from the field in 40.1 minutes per game, but has failed to make a single three-pointer.

The Bulls seem to have everything going against them in this matchup, but that’s nothing new for DeMar DeRozan. Expect a big scoring game from the Bulls star, regardless of the result.

How can the Bucks beat the Bulls?

The Milwaukee Bucks are just one win away from moving on to the second round of the NBA Playoffs. With the decided advantage on both ends of the court, the Bucks need to dominate the glass in order to shut out the Bulls.

Milwaukee has been able to hold the Bulls to just 39.8% shooting from the field and 28.0% shooting from three. Chicago has just slightly beaten Milwaukee on the offensive boards through 4 games, 35 to 34.

If the Bucks can take away the Bulls’ second chance opportunities, they won’t have the scoring punch to keep up with them. Having won the overall rebounding battle this series, 54.0 per game to 45.8, the odds are in Milwaukee’s favor.

Bucks Key Player: (G) Jrue Holiday

While Giannis Antetokounmpo has been leading the way for the Bucks as a whole, Jrue Holiday stepping up in place of Khris Middleton has helped the Bucks to their success. With a focus on his offence, Holiday has been the difference maker for Milwaukee.

In his last game, a Game 4 win, Holiday posted 26 points, 7 assists, and 2 rebounds in just under 37 minutes of play. He was 10 of 21 from the field, and locked in from range where he was 5 of 8 on the day.

Holiday needs to be effective as a secondary scorer, in order for the Bucks to beat the Bulls. If he isn’t on his game, the Bucks suddenly lose a lot of scoring ability. With his playmaking ability, a good scoring night only opens up opportunities to create for others.
