Week 3 was quiet in the Mountain West Conference, with several teams, including Boise State and UNLV, on bye.
Still, we can look back over the last two weeks to examine the landscape of the conference.
In fact, Caesars Sportsbook offers odds for the Mountain West Conference winning futures market, allowing you to wager on it now.

Through three weeks (and Week 0) of college football action, there’s only been one inter-conference matchup in the Mountain West: Utah State beating Air Force 49-30.
In Week 3, numerous Mountain West Conference teams were on bye, including Boise State, UNLV, San Jose State, San Diego State, and Colorado State.
Boise State Broncos (-110): Boise State had a bye in Week 3, but in Week 2, they hosted and defeated Eastern Washington, 51-14. Of course, it’s hard to evaluate this team. They were ranked heading into the season, but lost to South Florida on the road, 34-7. Then, in Week 2, they put up 51 points, sure, but it was a low-level team. They still have plenty of talent, including quarterback Maddux Madsen, but I’m curious to see how this team looks moving forward. In Week 4, they take on Air Force on the road.
UNLV Rebels (+350): Like Boise State, UNLV was on a bye in Week 3. However, in Week 2, they hosted and beat the Nico Iamaleava-led UCLA Bruins, 30-23. In that game, quarterback Anthony Colandrea completed 15 of 21 passes for 203 yards and three touchdowns. He also added 59 rushing yards. The defense picked off Iamaleava once. Colandrea has played well to start the season, and in Week 4, he has a chance to pour it on against Miami (OH).
Utah State Aggies (+2000): Utah State has won the first conference game this season, beating Air Force 49-30. In Week 2, Utah State went on the road to have another Aggies team, Texas A&M. They lost, but they did put up 22 points in a stadium that’s difficult to play in. In that game, Bryson Barnes had two touchdown passes. Fellow quarterback Anthony Garcia had a touchdown pass, too. Against Air Force, Barnes had 287 passing yards and two passing touchdowns. Both touchdowns went to wide receiver Braden Pegan. He caught seven passes for 147 yards and two touchdowns. This offense has looked pretty sharp so far, so I’m keeping an eye on them.

For now, I’m sticking with the Broncos. There’s not enough to sway me from them. This could change by the next time I examine this conference, but I have plenty more questions after their Week 1 loss.
Still, I trust the talent on the team overall, so I’ll be looking forward to Week 4 to see how they perform coming off a bye week.

To understand how to read Mountain West Conference championship odds, let’s examine them through the lens of wagering $100 or winning $100.
With “-” odds, this team is considered the favorite. The larger the number, the more favored they are. As for how to read them and wager, you’ll need to wager the number associated with the odds to win $100. So, Boise State is -105. In this case, you’ll need to wager $105 to win $100.
With “+” odds, this team is considered the underdog. The larger the number, the bigger the underdog they are. When you bet $100, you’ll win the number associated with the odds. For example, Colorado State is +1600. If you went $100 on them and they won the Mountain West Conference, you’d win $1600.
