The Cardinals are trying to beat the Seahawks for the first time in nearly four years
Both teams are 2-1 with late-game losses to the 49ers on their resumes
Odds opened as a pick'em but have drifted toward the Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks will visit the Arizona Cardinals for an NFC West showdown on Thursday Night Football to kickstart Week 4 of the NFL season.
The Seahawks enter the matchup on the back of a 31-point win against the New Orleans Saints. The Cardinals had a totally different experience the last time they were on the field, losing to the San Francisco 49ers on a time-expiring field goal that ended their bid at a perfect season.
Which team will come ready to play, and what are the best Seahawks vs. Cardinals betting picks for TNF in Week 4? Here are my thoughts.

Teams | Moneyline | Spread | Total |
---|---|---|---|
Seattle Seahawks | -120 | -1.5 (-110) | Over 43.5 (-110) |
Arizona Cardinals | +100 | +1.5 (-110) | Under 43.5 (-110) |
These are evenly-matched teams that are both unproven against stiff competition and lost to the same team, the 49ers. James Conner’s injury is concerning, but so is Seattle’s poor rushing attack and reliance on Jaxon Smith-Njigba. I can’t support laying points on the road on a short week against a division rival seemingly of the same caliber as the favorite.

The football world is largely still trying to figure out what kind of team the Seahawks are. It’s difficult to glean anything from their blowout against the Saints, who might be the worst team in football, due to the special teams variance that is unsustainable week-to-week.
Sam Darnold is seventh among all quarterbacks in EPA per play and tossed four touchdowns and two interceptions this season. The vast majority of the passing game has flown through third-year wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba, while newcomer Cooper Kupp only has 11 catches for 136 yards.
The Seahawks’ running game has been ineffective, in part because their offensive line has not been able to control the point of attack. That’s a stark contrast to their defensive front, which is second in pass-rush win rate and fourth in run stop win rate.
The defense is also fourth in pressure percentage, seventh in yards allowed per play and 10th in EPA allowed per play. They haven’t given up more than 17 points in a game, but they also haven’t faced even a league-average offense.
Traveling on the road to face a divisional opponent on a short week is never an easy task. However, the Seahawks haven’t fallen to the Cardinals since Nov. 2021.

There are striking similarities between the Cardinals and Seahawks. They both beat the Saints and fell to the Niners by one possession due to a scoring drive that occurred near or at the end of their respective meetings.
Defense is the strength of the Cardinals. They are 13th in EPA allowed per play and have been especially formidable against the run, which is a weakness of the visitors. However, they’re only average at generating pressure.
Arizona’s offense is going to need to go through a metamorphosis. They were playing at a mediocre level and just lost starting running back James Conner to a foot injury, which put more pressure on QB Kyler Murray.
Trench play hasn’t been an issue for the Cardinals, who rank in the top nine in pass-block, run-block, pass-rush, and run stop win rate.
Just like the Seahawks, this is going to be an important and revealing test for a Cardinals team that hasn’t faced a strong opponent thus far.
