We now firmly believe that the Seattle Seahawks are one of the best teams in the NFL. The offense has thrived with Sam Darnold behind center, who ranks in the top ten of the league in passing yards (1,745) and passer rating (109.2). His offense line is a big reason for that, allowing just nine sacks on the season. As a result, Seattle is tied for fifth in the league with an average of 27.6 points per game.

Things have also been going well for the defense, which is allowing just 19.4 points per game. The pass defense has been solid, but the run defense is what makes the unit great. They lead the league in yards allowed per game (75.7) and rushing touchdowns allowed (2). 

The Commanders have not seen that level of success on either side of the ball, going 2-5 after their Week 1 win against the Giants. They rank in the bottom half of the league in most offensive and defensive statistics, resulting in significant regression for one of last season’s breakout teams.

Jayden Daniels is expected to play in this game, but who knows what kind of form he will be in. Hamstring injuries tend to linger, which won’t help his issues with competition percentage. He’s completed under 58% of his passes in three of his last four games, signaling there may be bigger issues than just his hamstring. If his running ability is hampered, it will be a brutal day for the 24-year-old.

The Commanders' pass defense has been among the worst in the NFL. They rank in the bottom ten of the league in yards allowed per game (244.0), opposing passer rating (104.7), and touchdowns allowed (15). Over their last three games, they have allowed 815 yards and seven touchdowns through the air.

While many NFL insiders believed Zach Charbonnet would assume the starting role in Seattle’s backfield this season, Kenneth Walker III isn’t letting him. The back leads Seattle in carries (95), yards (430), and YPC (4.5) during the season. While his counterpart has been improving of late, there is more reason to believe in Walker on Sunday Night Football. 

Aside from his larger role in the run game, Walker has also been the far more explosive option. Charbonnet has had a rush for 10+ yards in just two of his six games this season. By comparison, Walker accomplished that feat in six straight games. 

Seattle will pound the ground against Washington, especially after building up a lead. Between the increased workload, explosive ability, and a weak Washington defense, we expect Walker to be in for a big night.
