Sam Darnold is completing 70.3% of his passes this season
Jaxon Smith-Njigba has 323 receiving yards and one TD
James Conner is out for the season
This week’s edition of Thursday Night Football features two NFC West rivals as the Seattle Seahawks visit the Arizona Cardinals. Both teams have faced relatively easy schedules to start the season, resulting in a 2-1 record. Now, they’ll face off for a chance to prove their impressive starts aren’t just a result of a bad defense.

After a shaky Week 1, we have become big believers in this Seattle offense. Sam Darnold is completing 70.3% of his passes with a 9.0 average per play. A big reason for his success has been Jaxon Smith-Njigba, whom Darnold has connected with for 323 yards and a touchdown. The duo has an incredible connection, and Arizona doesn’t have the talent to slow them down in Week 4.
The run game has also looked strong, with running back Kenneth Walker, who has 192 combined yards and three touchdowns over three weeks. Although he struggled in his lone matchup against Arizona last season, he ran much better later in the season. That momentum has carried into 2025, so expect to see a very different performance this week.
While Arizona started the season 2-0, we weren’t overly impressed. They beat two of the league’s worst teams, the Saints and Panthers, but both were one-score games. While the talent is there, the Cards make a lot of mistakes, which a banged-up Niners team took advantage of last weekend.
With James Conner out for Arizona, we don’t believe they will have enough to overcome a Seattle team that seems to have figured things out after a Week 1 loss.

Given the history of quarterbacks like Sam Darnold, we didn’t expect him to thrive in Seattle. While he struggled in Week 1, he has looked fantastic over the next two games. He completed 70.5% of his passes for 513 yards and four touchdowns.
While the electric Smith-Njigba can be given some credit for Darnold’s success, the former Vikings quarterback has been making some incredible throws. He has been poised, showing us that his breakout 2024 season was more than just a fluke.
Arizona’s young secondary has made some impressive plays, but has still allowed the third-most passing yards in the league (793). Expect Darnold and company to torch this Cardinals’ pass defense, leading to an easy cover of this low total.

James Conner won’t play again in 2025 due to a foot injury suffered last week. While the loss hurts Ariona’s offense, we expect Trey Benson to thrive as the team’s lead back. The 23-year-old only had 63 carries last season, but still averaged 4.6 YPC. He’s been even more electric this season, averaging 6.0 YPC on 21 carries.
Many NFL analysts have been hyping up Benson, despite his lack of carries. We expect him to shine in his first chance to work as the lead back, even against a very good Seattle run defense this week. While they may not allow Benson to average as many yards per play, they expect him to be featured heavily in the red zone.
Benson was excellent in limited work against the Seahawks in two games last season, with six carries for 33 yards (5.5 YPC).
