Joining the current most popular trend, BetRivers has signed their retired well-known sports figure to lead efforts as company spokesperson and symbol to lead media and publicity efforts.
This week Rush Street Interactive online sportsbook BetRivers.com secured an exclusive content deal with Jerome Bettis, one of the top running backs in NFL history, as a key component of its new Bet With a Winner campaign.
As part of the deal, the partnership makes Bettis (a.k.a. “The Bus”) an exclusive betting endorser of RSI’s BetRivers brand. Bettis will serve as the company’s brand ambassador and spokesperson, engaging in upcoming promotions and events on BetRivers platforms. As a member of the RSI team, he will participate in BetRivers social media, along with additional digital and traditional media platforms.
Excited to hand-off leadership responsibilities to Bettis, Richard Schwartz of RSI said:
No matter where he was, growing up in Detroit, playing at Notre Dame, or during his iconic career in Pittsburgh, Jerome Bettis made a positive impact on and off the field. We are thrilled for Jerome to bring his authenticity and winning ways to the passionate sports bettors on BetRivers.com.
A native of Detroit, Bettis played three seasons at Notre Dame, where he rushed for over 1,900 yards and scored 37 total touchdowns. Drafted by the Los Angeles Rams with the No. 10 picks in the 1993 draft, he was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.
A 1996 trade sent Bettis to the Pittsburgh Steelers. In his initial season joining Pittsburgh, he acquired the nickname The Bus” and was named NFL Comeback Player of the Year. The first of many standout seasons where he became a star among many others on championship Steelers teams.
Bettis’ last season was perhaps his most memorable. Slowed by nagging injuries, he was the emotional leader of a Steelers team that became only the second Wild Card team in NFL history advancing to the Super Bowl, defeating the Seahawks in Super Bowl XL. Playing in front of his hometown crowd in Detroit, Bettis achieved his first Super Bowl championship ring in the final game of his historic NFL career.
Bettis will be busy as BetRivers continues to improve numbers with their strong presence in Pennsylvania, which include top sportsbooks in both the Pittsburgh and Philadelphia areas. They also have locations now in seven US states including Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Colorado, and New Jersey.
The first sportsbook at Rivers opened in December 2018 as a temporary facility after sports betting was legalized following the US Supreme Court reversal of PASPA (the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act). In early 2019 a $5 million renovation to the facility included bringing giant TV screens, including two 50 foot by 7-foot LED monitors plus twenty-four 86” flat screens to the property.
According to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, the Western PA sportsbook has taken in over $456 million in wagering action. Of that amount, about $311 million online, or 68%.
Michigan will certainly be a target market for BetRiver’s expansion. The eagerly awaited launch of online gaming for the state is expected to begin within the next few weeks. BetRivers has prepared by partnering in June 2020 with Little River Casino Resort, a Manistee property owned and operated by the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians.
