The Denver Nuggets certainly isn’t the most prolific rebounding team in the NBA. While the combination of Nikola Jokic and Michael Porter combines for 18 rebounds per game, they have trouble with more aggressive rebounding teams.
It doesn’t really get more aggressive than the grit-and-grind Memphis Grizzlies. They rank eighth in the NBA in rebounds per game with 45.5, while also regaining around 12% of their field-goal attempts on the offensive glass.
The Denver guards will need to do their share on the glass to hold off the Memphis Grizzlies. Jamal Murray and Will Barton are solid with around four rebounds each per game, but they’ll look to Monte Morris and Gary Harris to improve their rebounding contributions.
The Memphis Grizzlies are going to have one of the toughest second halves to the season of any team in the league. Having to play 40 games in 68 days will only be sustainable if they can maintain offensive efficiency.
In their last game against the Wizards, the Grizzlies shot a scorching hot 50 of 99 from the field. More notably, the Grizzlies seemed much more selective in their shot attempts. The Grizzlies backcourt of Ja Morant and Dillon Brooks combined to shoot a solid 11 of 21 from the field.
The Nuggets close out on shooters hard, opening up opportunities for the matchup in the paint. It seems to suit Memphis’ gameplan just fine, so it’ll be key for them to rein in their perimeter shots and attack at opportune moments.

The Denver Nuggets have been crying for support for Nikola Jokic, but Jamal Murray closed out the first half of the season looking like he was the answer all along.
Murray started off the season poorly, averaging 18.1 points on 44.3% from the field and 34.1% from three. In his last 12 games, Murray averaged 28.5 points on 55.4% from the field and 47.0% shooting from three.
Murray can be one of the most dangerous players on court but can have troubling lapses inconsistencies. Not known for their perimeter defense, Murray has the opportunity to shine again.

Jonas Valanciunas, in his eighth year in the NBA, is one of the league’s most imposing centers. While his skill set is a love letter to NBA years gone by, he was dominant in his last outing against the Washington Wizards.
The Lithuanian international dominated the Wizards, posting a line of 29 points, 20 rebounds, and four blocks on 57.1 shooting from the field. There wasn’t a center on the Wizards that could match up with him.
It’ll be much of the same when he faces the Denver Nuggets. While they have size, none have the defensive skills on the interior to match Valanciunas. If Valanciunas can establish his presence inside early, he’ll be a game-changer.
