The Bills and Steelers are both coming off a loss in Week 12, putting them in the middle of a crowded AFC Wild Card race.
Josh Allen has thrown for over 250 yards in four consecutive games, despite Buffalo’s inconsistent offense.
The Buffalo defense has allowed the fewest yards by opposing tight ends.
The AFC playoff race takes center stage in Week 13 when the Pittsburgh Steelers host the Buffalo Bills. Right now, these are two of the six teams fighting over three Wild Card spots, so the ramifications are huge. With both teams coming off a loss, it’s even more vital for each to finish November with a win.
Despite being tied with the Ravens, the Steelers aren’t the AFC North favorites. Likewise, Buffalo’s streak of five straight division titles could be in jeopardy because they are two games behind the Patriots, who have emerged as the favorites to win the AFC East. Outside of the playoff race, Josh Allen is also highly ranked in NFL MVP odds, as he looks to win the award for the second consecutive season.
Obviously, there is a lot of attention on Allen heading into this game. But there are other star players worth watching closely in this game.
After taking a close look at the key players on both teams, we’ve come up with our three favorite player props for this week’s Bills-Steelers game. It hasn’t been easy sledding for Allen in recent weeks, although you can’t tell by his passing totals. He’s amassed over 250 passing yards in four straight games, including a pair of games with over 300 yards. Even with the Bills being held below 20 points in two of those games, Allen is finding ways to throw for a lot of yards.
In Week 13, Allen has the added benefit of facing one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL. The Steelers are giving up 277.6 yards per game through the air. While the Pittsburgh defense has been better in recent weeks, even limiting Justin Herbert to just 220 yards, that may not continue against Allen, who is feeling extra pressure to carry the Bills through their current slump.

With Aaron Rodgers expected to return this week, look for the Steelers to run the ball less and throw the ball more. Even in a high-scoring affair against the Bears last week, Pittsburgh had more running plays than passing plays. That helped to give Warren 18 carries, although that won’t necessarily repeat itself this week.
In 10 games this season, Warren has only gone over 15.5 rushing attempts four times. The Steelers have also made an effort to get Kenneth Gainwell more involved. He’s earned 19 carries over the last two weeks. If there is a similar timeshare this week, it’ll be tough for Warren to surpass 15.5 rushing attempts.

Despite some other defensive flaws, the Bills have been one of the best teams in the NFL at defending opposing tight ends. They are allowing just 2.4 receptions per game by tight ends. If that trend continues, it’ll be hard for Freiermuth to collect too many yards, especially since he’s starting to share snaps with Darnell Washington and Jonnu Smith.
Even with a touchdown last week, Freiermuth amassed just 19 receiving yards. That’s been a growing trend for Freiermuth, who has been held below 20 receiving yards in five of his last seven games. With a tough matchup against the Buffalo defense in Week 13, this is a good time to fade him.
