England’s Ben Whittaker brings an unbeaten professional record
Germany’s Benjamin Gavazi is the more experienced fighter
The WBC Silver light heavyweight title is on the line
As we approach the end of 2025, boxing lovers would be forgiven for looking back on another successful and exciting campaign. The noble art has delivered many excellent bouts this term, with fans enjoying plenty of showreel knockouts and upsets. But we’re not done just yet. There’s still time for some more drama, and December promises to be a busy period for followers of the noble art.
We head to England’s second-largest city for the highlight of this weekend’s boxing. Britain’s Ben Whittaker takes on Germany’s Benjamin Gavazi in a bout scheduled for ten rounds. You can follow all the action from the Birmingham Exhibition Centre live on DAZN. Whittaker and Gavazi dispute the WBC silver light heavyweight title in the main attraction.
Whittaker’s fights are always entertaining and popular. Major online bookmakers are eager to get in on the action, offering pre-fight betting odds and specials on Whittaker vs Gavazi. The table below shows how traders expect Saturday’s showdown to go.

Please remember that boxing betting odds are subject to change, and the price you see when placing your bets may differ from what was available when we published our Whittaker vs Gavazi betting preview.
As you can see, betting traders heavily favour another win for British boxer Whittaker. The odds-makers price him as if losing in front of his own fans isn’t an option. That’s understandable, given his blistering start to life in the pro ranks, but it doesn’t guarantee he’ll win. Experienced boxing fans and sports bettors know this game is unpredictable. Bouts often change with a single punch, and shock results are common.
The fight-winner market is the easiest and most popular way to gamble on boxing. Simply choose the gladiator you expect to win, input your stake, check and confirm. Your wager is now live. If your selection is declared the winner at the end of the contest, you’ll make a profit. If the night ends in a draw or a win for the opponent, your bet loses, and the bookmaker keeps your stake.
The fight-winner betting option may be popular, giving you a one-in-three chance of landing a profit, but it’s far from the only market available to gamblers. You can bet on the total number of rounds, the fight to go the distance, the exact winning round, and more. Another eye-catching boxing betting market is the method of victory. Regular readers of my boxing betting previews for World Sports Network already know that’s my personal favourite.
When betting on the method of victory, you’re tasked with predicting both the winning fighter and how they’ll achieve the result: on points or by knockout. Both parts of the bet must land for you to see a profit, but the odds are bigger than you’ll find in the fight-winner.
Here’s an example of a method of victory bet:
$100 on Whittaker to win by KO/TKO -333 at bet365
In the above example, you’re risking a $100 stake on Ben Whittaker beating Benjamin Gavazi inside the distance. If he does as expected, you’ll bank a $130 return. That’s a $30 profit and your $100 stake back. But if Whittaker wins on points or fails to beat the German, your bet is a loser.

Ben Whittaker will duck between the ropes with his professional boxing card showing nine wins against one draw, with six victories scored inside the distance. He is currently ranked at number ten in the UK, a list topped by Callum Smith. Whittaker is 41st on the global rankings, with David Benavidez sitting in pole position.
Whittaker isn’t yet ready for the leading fighters in the UK or on the world scene, but he can continue to close the gap with a win here. Victory over a more experienced German opponent would move him up the global charts. Holding a WBC Silver title would show he’s ready to face bigger and better fighters.
We last saw Whittaker in action when he stopped Liam Cameron inside two rounds in Birmingham back in the spring. That was a revenge win after Cameron had held Whittaker to a draw in the fight before. Ben’s stats show his last two fights have ended inside the distance, and I’m picking another early night for the Englishman.

Benjamin Gavazi’s pro record shows 19 wins against one defeat, with 13 KO victories. The 30-year-old’s only defeat came on his debut in a four-round contest. He deserves credit for pulling his career back on track and climbing the ranks. Many fighters who lose their debut disappear into the background. But now Gavazi.
The German is ranked at number three in his homeland and 48th in the world. He was last in action when beating Branimir Malenica, finishing things in the final round of a bout scheduled for ten. That KO/TKO win was his third on the bounce. A fearsome 68% knockout average will give Team Whittaker plenty to think about.
Whittaker must use his boxing skills, defence, and footwork to avoid the inevitable early onslaught from his opponent. But the Brit will have the crowd behind him, and I expect Ben to settle into the contest, keeping things long, before getting rid of Gavazi in the later rounds.
Ben is guilty of showboating in fights, and isn’t every boxing fan’s cup of tea, but he has power, accuracy and speed. Connections have high hopes for Whittaker, and he’ll show us why on Saturday night before a huge TV audience.
