We last saw 27-year-old Cruz in action back in the summer when scoring a comfortable ten-round points decision win over Omar Salcido Games in Las Vegas. The scorecards at the end of the contest declared Cruz as the winner by margins of 12, 10, and 10 rounds. Those cards reflected the one-sided nature of the bout and Isaac’s dominance that night.

As Cruz is the underdog in what appears to be a 50/50 bout, the Mexican is sure to appear on a fair share of bet slips this weekend. Lamont Roach is an American-born fighter currently boxing out of Maryland. The 30-year-old brings a 25-1-2 record, winning 10 times inside the distance for a 40% knockout average. His card shows Lamont has lost only once to Jamel Herring in Fresno on points late in 2019. Since then, he’s avoided defeat in seven bouts, scoring three stoppage wins in that time.

Despite his impressive form, Roach didn’t win last time. He fought out a thrilling draw with Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis over 12 rounds at the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn. The scorecards at the end of that fight read 114-114, 113-115, and 114-114. Tank did get the nod by two rounds on one card, but with the other two unable to separate the pair, a draw was a fair result.

Roach may have drawn with Tank in March of this year, but he’s the favourite to make a quick-fire return to winning ways. You can back Lamont to win the bout or aim higher in the method of victory. Looking at his recent form, Roach has gone the distance in four of his last five. That means you can back him to score a points win over Cruz with confidence.
