Saul Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford 2025 09 13

Alvarez vs Crawford is a world title fight that’ll bring together both avid and casual boxing fans. Canelo is the big-punching Mexican who has won titles at multiple weights, as high up as light-heavyweight. He’s hoping that experience and natural weight advantages will lead to another victory. Crawford is the slick American with an impressive, undefeated record and an incredible boxing IQ.

The simplest and most popular way to gamble on big-time boxing is the fight-winner market. With this approach, back the fighter you expect to win and if they deliver, you secure the profits. But if the opponent wins or the clash ends in a draw, your bet loses, and the bookie keeps your stake. You have a one-in-three chance of boosting your balance, with your pick working against their opponent and the draw.

Here’s an example of a bet on Crawford in the fight-winner market.

With the above bet, you’re taking a chance on the underdog. If Crawford beats Alvarez on points or by knockout, you win. A $50 bet on Crawford pays $120. That’s a $70 profit and your $50 stake back. If Alvarez wins, bet365 keeps your $50 stake.

You can bet on the fight-winner market as a single or add several picks from the fight card to a parlay, targeting a big win off small stakes. A parlay also gives you an interest throughout the evening, taking you from the undercard bouts to the main event.

Alvarez Form and Figures

Saul Alvarez is a modern-day great of the fight game. The big-punching Mexican turned professional in his teenage years and immediately began climbing the ranks. Saul made a winning debut back in 2005 with a four-round points decision, and caught the bug. He banked the North American Boxing Federation at welterweight in 2009, and quickly followed it with more ranking titles. Canelo’s first defeat came in 2012 when he lost on points to Floyd Mayweather Jr. His next loss didn’t arrive until 2022 when dropping a points decision to Dmitrii Bivil. That was his most recent loss.

Since losing to Bivol, Canelo has beaten top fighters, including Gennady Golovkin, John Ryder, Jaime Munguia, and Jermell Charlo. We last saw the 35-year-old in action when beating William Skull on points over 12 rounds in Saudi Arabia back in May. It was a simple outing for Canelo, with the scorecards giving him victory by margins of two, four and ten rounds. The win over Skull was Saul’s first of the year, and he enters knowing a second would cement his legacy. Is Alvarez vs Crawford bigger than Alvarez vs Golovkin? That remains to be seen, but it’ll certainly be something special.

Crawford Form and Figures

Terence Crawford travels from his base in Nebraska to Las Vegas with a 41-0-0 record, winning all but ten of those bouts inside the distance. The American southpaw made his debut in 2008 with a first-round TKO win, setting the puncher on his way to a fearsome 76% knockout ratio. Bud has speed and power in abundance, but his best form has come in the welterweight and super welterweight divisions. Will he carry that concussive power to the super middleweight division? Crawford, his team, and fans certainly hope so.

We last saw Crawford in action when adding a 41st win from as many bouts, beating Israil Madrimov over the championship distance at the BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. That near-punch-perfect performance came hot on the heels of a stunning ninth-round victory over long-term rival Errol Spence Jr in Vegas. The winner was well ahead on the scorecards when ending things in the ninth, sending his opponent to the canvas in round two and twice again in round seven. The stats show Bud can out-box high-ranking opponents, but also brings the character and fight to end things early.

Alvarez vs. Crawford Predictions

Saturday evening’s fight in Las Vegas will live up to the hype, producing a night to remember. I am a huge fan of Crawford and have been since watching him beat Ricky Burns in Glasgow more than ten years ago, but I’m picking Alvarez.

The Mexican is more experienced, naturally bigger and stronger, which will make all the difference. I don’t expect an early night, picking Alvarez to win on points for the seventh fight in a row.
