The Indiana Pacers and Oklahoma City Thunder will be back on the floor for Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Monday, and I have a list of my favorite player props for the action.
The Thunder saved their season by winning the fourth quarter of Game 4 31-17 to tie the series at 2-2. They now head back to their home floor, where they’ve been dominant and both won and covered the spread the last time they were there.
The Pacers proved they could win on the road by taking Game 1 in dramatic fashion. Tyrese Haliburton drilled a game-winning jump shot with 0.3 seconds remaining, but he hasn’t scored more than 22 points in a single game in the series.
Here are my top five NBA Finals player props for Pacers vs. Thunder Game 5 on Monday.
Holmgren went over this line in his last two games, both times recording 10+ boards and snatching 15 in 37 minutes in Game 4. Those 37 minutes were his highest of the series, and OKC Head Coach Mark Daigneault seems as if he’s willing to sacrifice his depth to play his starters heavy minutes.
The Pacers have done a nice job of playing big with small players, which led Daigneault to counter with more minutes for Holmgren and Isaiah Hartenstein. This is a physical and taxing series that could lead to more shooting inefficiency, which means more potential rebounding opportunities.
Siakam scored 20+ points in back-to-back games and went over in three of four, though he hasn’t scored more than 21 points in a game in the series. He leads the Pacers in playoff scoring and has a matchup advantage nearly every time he’s on the court based on the Thunder’s personnel and his combination of size, speed, and strength.
The Pacers have been willing to trust their bench, but role players tend to play worse on the road, which means more responsibility for the stars. Siakam is the only player on the Pacers with Finals experience and should bring that experience and mentality into a crucial Game 5.
Turner hasn’t shown up to the series, or playoffs, on the board, going under this line in three straight and in eight of his last nine games. He’s been a terrific defensive asset, but his struggles shooting the ball have also allowed Pacers Head Coach Rick Carlisle to show more minutes to Obi Toppin.
The Thunder started Hartenstein for the first time all series in Game 5 and appeared to be focused on taking away the Pacers’ offensive rebounding opportunities and earning second-chance possessions. Turner has shown little interest in getting on the boards, and for this value, is a great bet to go under.
Toppin has quickly become the Pacers’ sixth man whereas those responsibilities were previously entrusted to Bennedict Mathurin and T.J. McConnell. He played 29 minutes in Game 4 and is now up to 25.3 per game in the Finals while averaging 11.3 points and 5.8 rebounds.
Toppin split the over/under at two apiece but is coming off of a 17-point masterclass, and he shot 48.6 percent from the field and 38.1 percent from three in the Finals. He went over with 17 points in Game 1 and proved that he can perform on the road ahead of tonight’s matchup in OKC.
“J-Dub” averaged 22.3 points per game and scored 26 and 27 in his last two games, yet he hasn’t made more than one three in a game in these Finals. He averages 0.8 makes on 3.5 attempts per game, leaving him at a terrible 21.4 percent coming off a game in which he went 0-3 from deep.
The Pacers have done a tremendous job of limiting the Thunder’s three-point attempts, and Williams has found success attacking the rim and getting to the free-throw line. He could still go over his points total, but he’s been horrendous shooting from long-range during the series.
-Indiana Pacers vs. Oklahoma City Thunder (-9.5)
Chet Holmgren 8+ rebounds: Had 25 boards in his last two games and is playing heavy minutes.
Pascal Siakam 8+ rebounds: Had eight in Game 4 and just tied his series-high in minutes.
Isaiah Hartenstein 7+ rebounds: Started for the first time in the series in Game 4, is 2-2 on the over/under.
Jalen Williams 7+ rebounds: Had seven boards in last game, and Daigneault is giving more minutes to his starters.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander 6+ rebounds: Only went over once, but a series as taxing as this could lead to tired legs and more missed shots, meaning more rebounds.
Tyrese Haliburton 6+ rebounds: Went over in Games 1 and 3 and has all of the motivation to be at his best.
