NBA Player Props and Best Bets: Joel Embiid, Jalen Duren & More Picks for Monday, April 6

The NBA is back for a new week, and I’ve picked my top player props from around the league for the day’s action.

21-year-old Rayan Rupert had a career day with 33 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists in the Memphis Grizzlies’ loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, while Cooper Flagg starred again with 45 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds in the Dallas Mavericks’ win over the Los Angeles Lakers.

There are five games tonight in the lead-up to the March Madness national championship game, three of those between a pair of projected playoff opponents. The headliner will see the red-hot Atlanta Hawks host the New York Knicks, who are trying to avoid losing hold of the third seed in the Eastern Conference.

Jalen Duren Over 2.5 Assists (-114) at FanDuel Sportsbook

Duren went over this line in seven straight games and has been much more involved in the playmaking of the Detroit Pistons’ offense since Cade Cunningham went out of the lineup. He went under in three previous matchups with the Orlando Magic this season, but those are also unfair reflections of his potential because of the difference in usage.

The Magic ranked 12th in assists allowed per game over the last few weeks, which, while it isn’t bad, isn’t enough to deter me from this prop. Duren will get plenty of chances with the ball, and he’s proven his ability to get to the over.

Jalen Johnson Over 7.5 Assists (-114) at FanDuel Sportsbook

Johnson and the Hawks are favored to beat the Knicks, which shows how far both teams have come since earlier in the year. The Duke product enters the matchup having gone over in eight of his last 12 games and averaged 8.0 assists per game for the year.

The Knicks ranked slightly better than league-average in assists allowed per game over their last 15 outings. Johnson already went over in both previous matchups with the Knicks, and this is an opportune time for the Hawks to make a statement with a win in front of their fans.

Jarrett Allen Over 8.5 Rebounds (+104) at FanDuel Sportsbook

Allen has only been back in the Cleveland Cavaliers’ lineup for three games since returning from an injury. He played 18, 19, and 24 minutes in those games, grabbing 10, four, and 13 rebounds in the process.

Even though Cleveland’s center isn’t playing his full minutes load, he’s getting more and more minutes fairly quickly, and he still beat this line in two of three games since returning. The Memphis Grizzlies allowed the most average rebounds in the league over their last 15 contests, and I like the value on this line, given the context.

Joel Embiid Under 28.5 Points (-128) at FanDuel Sportsbook

Embiid averaged 26.7 points per game for the year and went under this line in four of his last six outings, including two consecutive outings. The Philadelphia 76ers are also at full health and have Paul George playing at a high level, which could eat into his opportunities to score the ball.

The San Antonio Spurs have one of the best defenses in the NBA, and Embiid no longer has the brute physical advantage over the young Victor Wembanyama. I don’t believe that he’s capable of dominating this matchup, which is what he’ll probably need to do to get to the over.

Donovan Clingan Over 11.5 Rebounds (-114) at FanDuel Sportsbook

Despite uncharacteristically going under this line in three straight games, Clingan still cashed the over in six of his last nine outings. He also hit the over in two of three matchups with these Denver Nuggets, most recently grabbing 13 boards in 25 minutes on March 22.

 Nikola Jokic is one of the best rebounders in basketball, but Clingan is on that same level. The Nuggets also ranked 19th in rebounds allowed per game over the last few weeks of play, and Clingan should be in a position to do his damage on the boards.
