March Madness has been one of the most-wagered-on events in the US, well before the spread of online sports betting. The 68-team field provides bettors with a massive slate of games that always features some massive underdogs scoring surprise wins. That means big payouts for some bettors, but only if they’re using the best March Madness betting sites for their wagers.
Over 30 states now have legal online sports betting markets, many of which offer a wide selection of sportsbooks. While new or casual bettors may believe these platforms are essentially the same, that belief can end up costing them money.
Below, we’ll be sharing our best March Madness betting sites and apps for this year’s edition of March Madness. We’ll share why we chose each operator to help you determine which will be the best fit.

While there are many sportsbooks available in the US, eight stand out above the rest. These platforms offer competitive pricing and are available in most markets. Below are our rankings of the top March Madness betting websites ahead of the tip-off for this year’s tournament.
MGM has had large retail sportsbooks in the US long before PASPA was overturned, giving them far more experience than the top two names on our list. While the platform isn’t as well-liked as other top sportsbooks, BetMGM makes up for it with one of the best loyalty programs in the industry. Bettors can earn bonus bets, concert tickets, and even free vacations.
Bettors can use the BetMGM platform in the following states: AZ, CO, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, MD, MA, MI, MO, MS, NV, NJ, NY, NC, OH, PA, PR, TN, VA, DC, WV, and WY.

If you aren’t able to access online sports betting in your state, fear not! Below is a list of our favorite sports predictions market platforms, along with what makes them stand out.
Kalshi has blazed the trail for sports contracts in the US, making it one of the most trustworthy and reliable names in the industry. Kalshi’s platform is cutting-edge and visually appealing, and offers sports bettors a chance to wager on sports using its cryptocurrency.
While Kalshi operates in all 50 states, pending lawsuits could result in service interruptions. Be sure to check back here for the latest news on the prediction industry.

The best March Madness sportsbooks will have several ways for bettors to get in on the action. Below is a list with a brief explanation as to what the bet is, but we go into much more detail in our March Madness Betting Guide.
If you are just interested in betting on whether a team will win a game straight up (no spread involved), then you’ll want to bet on the moneyline. But to account for one team being perceived as better than the other, you stand to win less money when betting on favorites (listed with minus odds) than you would on an underdog (listed with + odds).
The point spread estimates how much one team (the favorite) is expected to beat another (the underdog). For a bet to win, favorites must beat the opponent by more than the spread; underdogs must win outright or lose by less than the spread.
If you do not want to bet on one team to win a game, you can bet on how many points both teams will combine to score. A number will be listed in the betting line for a game. You can bet on whether the final score of the game will be OVER the listed total or UNDER.
Let’s say the total on a game is 130.5 points, and the final score is Team A 70 and Team B 65 for a total of 135 points. Bets on the OVER will settle as winners.
A prop bet is a wager not tied directly to the outcome of a game. Common college basketball prop bets include things like first basket, last basket, O/U player point, rebound, steals, blocks, etc. totals, three-pointers, team-specific point totals, etc.
Parlays and same-game parlays give bettors the opportunity to combine multiple bets into one large wager with the hope of winning a more significant payday. But while you can win more money, the risk is exponentially higher, meaning you are less likely to win. For a bet to win, you have to win every leg. Lose one and your wager settles as a loss.
Futures give bettors a chance to bet on the outcome of a future event. A perfect example of that is the NCAA National Championship Winner. Bettors have been able to put money down on who they think will win this year since shortly after the last title game finished; some sportsbooks have odds for the next one before the current title game even plays.
Live betting gives bettors a chance to bet on a game while it is underway. Options will vary among sportsbooks, but common markets include spreads, moneylines, and totals for the first/second half, individual team totals, the outcome of a current/next drive (football), whether a pitcher will strike out/walk a batter (baseball), the outcome of an at-bat (baseball), etc.
The 2026 edition of March Madness is right around the corner! Below are some key dates to know for this year’s tournament.
Selection Sunday: Sunday, March 15
