The Miami Dolphins supposedly “tanked for Tua” last season, but it behooves them to start the year out with a more seasoned veteran under center, so expect to see journeyman QB Ryan Fitzpatrick in this Week 1 matchup while rookie Tua Tagovailoa sits on the sideline with a clipboard and watches.

With the quarterback question in New England answered firmly with veteran Cam Newton returning to the league healthy and ready to re-prove himself “elsewhere,” it will be evident fast whether the team can still win under head coach Bill Belichick with no GOAT to speak of.

The first time these two teams played last season, the Patriots took care of business 43-0, but at the end of December, the Dolphins shocked the football world and stole a win by beating New England in Foxborough by a score of 27-24.

Can Ryan Fitzpatrick Continue to Find Miami Magic?

If it were a beard contest, Ryan Fitzpatrick would win hands down, but this is about being able to stand in the pocket and deliver strikes, and that’s something that “FitzMagic” has been doing since he started in the league back in 2005.

Last season did prove to be a challenge for Fitzpatrick, playing in fifteen games and starting thirteen of those and posting 311 completions for 3529 yards and 20 touchdowns, which is actually decent until you throw in the 13 interceptions he was responsible for.

The key will be for Fitzpatrick to last long enough to get a few wins before rookie Tua Tagovailoa is ready to play – if he can do that, then he will have done exactly what was expected of him in Miami.

Can Cam Newton Really Be the Answer in New England?

The football world in New England was devastated when their GOAT Tom Brady left for sunnier pastures, but now they have every reason to be excited again because they miraculously received another fine quarterback in the offseason.

Fans might have forgotten just how excellent quarterback Cam Newton was in Carolina before injuries began to erode his effectiveness, but he is healthy now and ready to prove he still has what it takes to hurl footballs at the NFL level.

Add to that the fact that he will be game planned by the great Bill Belichick, who tends to utilize every player he coaches to their max, so if anyone can escort Newton to a return to glory its Belichick and his proven winning ways.

Editor’s pick:

Dolphins Key Player: (LT) Austin Jackson

One of the keys to creating an excellent NFL QB is giving him dependable protection, and the Dolphins are counting on two rookies to help them get the job done in 2020.

Left tackle Austin Jackson was Miami’s pick in the first round, 18 selection overall, and they will count of the former USC stud to protect either Fitzpatrick’s or Tua’s blindside in 2020.

Another rookie, right guard Solomon Kindley, will be expected to contribute right away, as well, the young front line in Miami a definite work in progress this early in the season.

Patriots Key Player: (WR) Julian Edelman

One of Cam Newton’s new best friends will be talented veteran slot receiver Julian Edelman, who has a knack for getting open and eluding tackles once he gets the ball in his hands, which has been often.

Last season, Edelman caught exactly 100 passes for 1117 total yards and 6 touchdowns.

If he can stay healthy, Edelman will most likely be a constant reliable target for Newton in 2020 as he gradually learns an entirely new system of offense.
