The Cowboys traded away Micah Parsons last week
Dak Prescott threw for 4,516 passing yards and 36 TDs in 2023
Georgia Pickens will be starting his first game for the Cowboys
The NFL season is finally here, kicking off with a classic NFC East rivalry. The Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles will host the Dallas Cowboys on this year’s first edition of Thursday Night Football. While we know what to expect from Philly, this new-look Dallas team will be facing its first test. With George Pickens in and Micah Parsons out, can the Cowboys pull off a Week 1 Stunner?
Below, we will share our favorite same game parlay for this Week 1 matchup. We’ll provide insights into each leg and provide odds from Caesars Sportsbook. Sign up for a Caesars account with our promo code WSN20X and claim your welcome offer: Bet $1, Double Your Winnings on Your Next 20 Bets.
We aren’t expecting this to be a very entertaining start to the NFL season.
On one side are the Eagles, who return much of the Super Bowl-winning roster from last season. That includes receiver AJ Brown, who is back from injury and expected to play. With him on the field and the rest of the playmakers all back, Philly will overwhelm a Cowboys defense now missing Micah Parsons.
Although their defense lost some key pieces up front, including Josh Sweat, they are expected to be one of the NFL’s best defenses once again in 2025. The pass defense lost both starting safeties, but will arguably have the best young cornerback group in the league with Cooper DeJean, Quinyon Mitchell, and Reed Blankenship.
On the other side is the Dallas Cowboys, who recently stunned the league by trading Micah Parsons to the rival Green Bay Packers. While they added veteran DT Kenny Clark, the absence of the generational pass rusher will have a noticeable impact. Expect them to struggle to generate pressure on Hurts, allowing the Eagles to put up some big offensive numbers.
The Cowboys' pass attack will be far better with Dak Prescott healthy and George Pickens added. Unfortunately, the team decided not to address its glaring issue at running back. A strong run game could keep this game close, but Dallas won’t be able to establish it.

Last season was incredibly disappointing for Dak. He was limited to eight games with a hamstring injury, throwing 11 TD and eight interceptions. With injuries plaguing him in 2022, some fans are starting to believe his massive contract is just dead weight, but that isn’t the case.
In 2023, Dak played all 17 games and finished with 4,516 passing yards, 36 TDs, and eight interceptions. Those are MVP-worthy numbers, showing why Dallas made him the highest-paid quarterback in the league. With George Pickens joining CeeDee Lamb at receiver, expect Dak to put up fantastic numbers this season, starting tonight.
We are also considering the impact of the Parsons trade when making this bet. With the defense likely to suffer (at least in Week 1), Dallas will be spending a lot of time trying to play catch-up.

Lamb is set up for a monster season in 2025. It's easy to forget how talented the wide receiver is, given the team’s play last season, but this year’s offense will look far different in 2025. The addition of George Pickens will cost him some receptions, but it will also prevent defenses from loading up against Lamb. That will make a significant impact tonight against an Eagles team that led the league in pass defense last season.
The other reason we are betting on Lamb (and Dak) to post big numbers is the Cowboys' lack of a running game. Former Broncos back Javonte Williams is expected to start, but he failed to turn heads while in Denver. With no reliable options behind him, expect the Boys to avoid leaning on the run all season.
