NFL Weather Week 2 and Odds: Wind and Heat a Slight Concern for a Few Games

Published: September 10, 2025, 11:33 AM ET

Most football games are played outdoors, which means the weather can play a factor on Game Day. The weather is unlikely to affect the odds on a game, but it can impact the outcome.

There may be more turnovers if it rains. Hot weather can lead to cramping. High winds can make completing deep passes or making field goals more challenging than they should be.

Then again, you could have the worst weather and nothing happens. Let’s take a look at a few games in Week 2 that could have issues related to the weather.

NFL Weather Week 2 and Odds Cardinals Marvin Harrison Jr

New England Patriots vs. Miami Dolphins, Sunday, September 14 @ 1 p.m. EST

TeamSpreadMoneylineTotal
New England Patriots+1.5 (-112)+100O 43.5 (-112)
Miami Dolphins-1.5 (-108)-118U 43.5 (-108)

The forecast is calling for temperatures in the low 80s, 8-11 mph winds out of the northeast, and a 39% chance of rain. Humidity is expected to be around 81% with the skies being mostly cloudy.

Winds are expected to be stronger later in the game, which could impact long field goal attempts in what could be a close, low-scoring game. Temperatures could get close to 90 degrees. Factor in that infamous Florida humidity, and it could be a hot, humid day on that field.

The high winds are a potential concern, but the heat and humidity are more likely to play a factor.

Arizona Cardinals-6.5 (-115)-310U 44.5 (-115)

The Cardinals play in a dome, but if the weather does not call for rain, I don’t think they’ll have it closed at kickoff. Consequently, the 96-degree temperature could certainly have an impact on the game.

With no cloud cover, there will be no relief from the heat, but with the low humidity, it will feel a couple of degrees cooler than it is. But if players aren’t careful, it is easy to get dehydrated when it feels deceptively cooler than it is.

At the worst, we may see a few cramps, but players will miss a few plays as the training staff works them out. Overall, the weather will have minimal impact (if any).

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Kansas City Chiefs, Sunday, September 14 @ 4:25 p.m. EST

Philadelphia Eagles-1.5 (-102)-110O 46.5 (-112)
Kansas City Chiefs+1.5 (-120)-106U 46.6 (-108)

Arrowhead is one of the 20 open stadiums in the NFL, so there is always a possibility that the weather could impact a game. On Game Day this week, the temperature is expected to be in the mid to low 80s with 8 mph winds coming out of the southwest, but with gusts up to 15 mph.

At kickoff, there is a 10% chance of rain, but that percentage increases to 21% for the duration of the game. If the gusts are that strong, there is a chance they could impact a kick or possibly longer pass plays.  Otherwise, the temperature isn’t too warm.

Overall, don’t expect the weather to impact this game much, but keep an eye on the wind.
