How to Watch

Where: Pepsi Center – Denver, CO.

When: Thursday, May 2, 10PM EST

How (TV/Radio): NBCSN, Sportsnet, CBC, TVA | WFAN

San Jose Sharks (Away)

Head Coach: Peter DeBoer {All-Time 400-313-109 SJ, NJD, FLA}

Logan Couture scored a hat trick and Martin Jones made 25 saves, giving San Jose the game three win and a 2-1 series lead over the Colorado Avalanche. It should also be noted that captain Joe Pavelski, who has missed the last couple of games with a head injury, could possibly return for the Sharks in game four. It will be a game time decision.

Despite getting out hit by Colorado, San Jose still managed to out shoot their opponents 31-27. After being down 2-1 earlier in the game, San Jose’s Matt Nieto tied the game and, just over a minute later, Couture scored his second of the game to put the Sharks up by one, which stood as the game winner.

Goalie Martin Jones made 25 saves in game three and will once again get the start for the San Jose Sharks. Jones has put together a 2.92 goals against average and a .909 save percentage over his ten playoff games this year. He;s 6-3 over 554 minutes and he has one assist.

Colorado Avalanche (Home)

Head Coach: Jared Bednar {All-Time 103-116-27}

The Colorado Avalanche had the slight edge in faceoffs and hits and came back from a deficit to tie the game late in game three but it wasn’t enough to procure a win in their first home game of round two.

Nathan MacKinnon scored his fifth goal of the playoffs, giving him 12 points and a seven-game point streak, which is the longest for a Colorado player since Peter Forsberg in 2004

Although Colorado lost game three, goaltender Philipp Grubauer still put together a stron performance, making 27 saves on 30 shots. Through eight playoff games this year, Grubauer has a goals against average of 2.43 and a save percentage of .921. He is 5-3 over 494 minutes of play and, like Jones, also has registered one assist.

Series recap (San Jose leads series 2-1) Game one: 5-2 San Jose, Game two: 4-3 Colorado, Game three: 4-2 San Jose

Through ten games, Couture has nine goals and three assists – good enough for 12 points. Couture has four power play points, one game-winning goal, and 37 shots on goal. He is a plus-3.

Tied for the scoring lead is Colorado’s Nathan MacKinnon, who also has 12 points in the form of five goals and seven assists. MacKinnon has a 1.5 points per game average. He has six power play points and two game-winners – one of which came in overtime. He has 41 shots.
