My Recommended Online Casinos in Ontario

1. BetMGM Casino

BetMGM Casino Canada Ontario Homepage

⭐ Best for: Curated slot collections

Ontario represented BetMGM’s first international market when it launched across the border back in April 2022. The casino looks and feels very similar to the US version of the site, with an impressive range of games, some unique features, and an excellent mobile app.

The gaming menu is vast, to say the least. To give you a sense of the scale, I counted 323 progressive jackpot slots alone, along with 132 live dealer tables. The menu of regular slots is well into the thousands. I never felt close to running out of new games to try,  and I appreciated being able to save my favorite games for later, which helped personalize the huge menu.

I like how there is a special section called Brian’s Choices, where you’ll find games handpicked by the popular slot streamer Brian Christopher. In an industry where many of the top casinos wind up with the same games in the same categories, partnerships like this help BetMGM stand out

However, I’ve never been in love with how BetMGM presents their casino menu. The different sized icons for each game looks good at a glance, but it’s just not practical for actually browsing through the menu. It’s not a massive deal, but I prefer presentation that prioritises function over style.

If you want a change of pace from the casino, you’ll find quick links to the BetMGM sportsbook and poker room at the top of the page. However, I do like that each platform is kept separate in general.

2. Caesars Palace Online Casino

Caesars Palace Casino Canada Ontario Homepage

⭐ Best for: Beginners

Caesars Palace Online Casino launched in Ontario in April 2022,  joining the luxury Caesars Windsor resort which attracts around six million visitors a year in southern Ontario.

I’m a big fan of clean white interface, with lots of neat design features that make this a great choice for beginners. I love how every game has an icon showing the min/max bets at a glance, saving you from actually opening up the game while deciding what to play. The “About the Game” info boxes are great too.

There are thousands of slots to scroll through, plus separate categories for games like “Video Poker”, “Game Shows” and “Tables”.  A pet peeve of mine is when casinos create unnecessary or ambiguous categories in their menu (what do Vegas Reels or Crazy Wins even mean?), and Caesars definitely does not fall into this trap.

I like how prominently both the Responsible Gaming and the Support buttons appear on the platform. You can get in touch via live chat or email, and browse through a detailed list of FAQs.

I had a great experience making deposits and withdrawals using Interac, including user friendly limits starting from just $10 for deposits and $1 for withdrawals. Caesars accepts a range of other methods too, including bank cards, transfers and e-wallets - although strangely it doesn’t accept in-person deposits at Caesars Windsor.

Overall, Caesars is my top choice for beginners in Ontario.

3. Stardust Casino

Stardust Casino Canada Ontario Homepage

⭐ Best for: Mobile gaming

Stardust is a great all round casino, with an interesting, varied menu of games and an excellent mobile app. It’s my top recommendation for mobile players in Ontario.

Compared with the other top ON casinos, the selection of games at Stardust is slightly smaller, but there are still more than a thousand slots on the menu. I counted 75 live dealer gables, with multiple blackjack, roulette and baccarat tables and some excellent Game Shows , like Crazy Balls and Cash or Crash.

Stardust has download links for its iOS and Android apps on the homepage, and that became my preferred way to play. The gaming menu is nicely spaced while you scroll on your phone, and I like the way the menu hides when you aren’t using it.

Making deposits on mobile was great too: I liked being able to confirm my credit card payments in seconds using the facial ID software on my iPhone. When I tested out Interac payments, my banking app opened automatically on my phone to confirm the payment.

The Getting Started guide is a nice touch for brand new players, and I appreciated having live chat support on my phone - even if I had to wade through some AI conversation before I got in touch with a real person.

Is Online Gambling Legal in Ontario?

Yes, online gambling is legal in the Canadian province of Ontario. The minimum legal age to gamble at both land-based and online casinos in Ontario is 19 years old.

Ontario was the first province to regulate online gambling and is now home to one of the largest online gambling markets in North America. There are currently more than 75 licensed online gambling operators in the province, which are hosts to online casinos, video poker and sports betting sites.

Online gambling in ON was legalized on April 4, 2022. Before this happened, the Canadian government passed Bill C-218 in June 2021, which allowed each province to create its own regulated online casino market.

In order for online casinos to be licensed to operate in Ontario, they must be registered with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO), as well as enter an agreement with iGaming Ontario (iGO). AGCO was established as a regulatory agency for the alcohol and gambling industries in 1998. iGaming Ontario was established in 2021 as a subsidiary of AGCO, and manages the operation of online gambling sites provided through private operators.

In August 2024, Ontario Premier Doug Ford proposed a bill that would allow Ontario players to wager against players in other countries, in games like video poker and fantasy sports. Interestingly, the bill would still not allow Ontario to play against other provinces within Canada. If the bill passes, gambling revenue in the province could increase by hundreds of millions of dollars. Since the bill would operate in legally gray areas the case is now proceeding through the Ontario courts to see if that is possible.

In 2024–2025, Ontario’s online gambling industry generated CA$3.20 billion in gross gaming revenue.

Casinos to Avoid

With 75 online casinos regulated to operate in Ontario, you have plenty of safe gambling options. However, in addition to providing information about reputable casinos, we think it’s important to let you know which online casinos to avoid.

Here are three sites that players in ON should stay away from:

  • 21 Dukes Casino: This is just one of several casinos operating under the Blacknote Group (others include 7 Spins Casino and Winward Casino). 21 Dukes has had several complaints about poor customer service and problems with payments.

  • Grand Privé Casino: Grand Privé was investigated by eCOGRA (an agency that tests online-gambling standards) after receiving numerous complaints. They were found to have breached contracts with suppliers and paid employees unfair wages.

  • WinPalace Casino: Multiple complaints have been lodged against WinPalace, including non-payment of winnings or long delays due to unnecessary security checks. Other complaints include unfair wagering requirements and unresponsive customer service.

What Games Can You Play at Ontario Online Casinos?

Ontario online casinos offer all of the classic casino games including slots, live-dealer games, table games, and online poker, as well as more modern games and rare titles too.

Here are the types of games you can expect to see offered at an ON online casino.

Online Slot Games

Slot games are popular at every online casino in Ontario. There are thousands of different titles available from popular software developers like Pragmatic Play, NetEnt and Microgaming - the last of which is notable for not being available at US casinos.

Slots are a great option for both beginners and experienced players. They range widely when it comes to jackpot sizes, bonus features, RTPs, and visual design. They also feature fun themes and characters on just about every subject you can imagine, from spooky ghosts to underwater adventures.

There is pretty much no skill or specialization required to play slots, and their simplicity is a big part of the appeal. Unlike games like blackjack, where you need to make mathematical decisions, or even roulette, where you have a range of bets to choose from - with slots you just choose your bet size and watch the reels spin.

Slots have various different features to make gameplay more exciting. These include tumbling reels, progressive jackpots, Megaways, and Slingo. Tumbling reel games feature an extra row of symbols at the top of the game board. When you land a win, these symbols drop down and replace existing ones, potentially creating multiple wins with every spin.

If higher payouts are your goal, you can try a progressive jackpot. These games increase the total jackpot every time you don’t win by putting a percentage of your wager back into the pot.

With Megaways games, the symbols change size to increase the chances of a winning payline. Some popular Megaways titles include Wheel of Fortune Megaways and Big Bass Bonanza Megaways. Slingo is a variation of slots that adds the classic bingo game. Each time you spin the reel, you can fill in symbols like you would on a bingo card, winning lines or even the entire board. There are hundreds of different Slingo titles, from Slingo Cleopatra to Slingo Sweet Bonanza.

With Ontario slots, there really is no shortage of games to try.

Table Games

Table games are also widely available at online casinos in Ontario. They include classic card and dice games like blackjack, roulette, craps, and baccarat. You’ll also find unique titles like Texas Hold’Em or War.

Table games are managed by a computerized random-number generator system that acts as the table’s “dealer”. The high-quality graphics and 3D animation of online table games simulate the experience of sitting at a real casino table, but you can also find modern variations that lean into the virtual world more, with fun themes and special effects.

Ontario casinos routinely have multiple versions of the same games, especially for popular games like roulette and blackjack. These variations will have a variety of betting limits, jackpot sizes, side bets, and other game features.

Live Dealer Games

Live dealer games put the real-life component back into table games, with a professional dealer managing the game. Live dealer games operate by means of a video livestream and can be offered 24/7 at some casinos. They add a social aspect to table games, as you can often interact with the dealer and with other players through a live chat feature. For an exclusive experience, you can also reserve your own private live table with a personal dealer.

Live dealer tables offer all of your favorite table games like blackjack, poker, baccarat, roulette, and craps. Some casinos also offer live versions of game shows or spin-to-win games, with familiar titles like Wheel of Fortune or Deal or No Deal.

Video Poker

Video poker is an offshoot of traditional poker that you play against the dealer, not dissimilar to blackjack. It’s widely available at ON casinos.

Video poker is available in different forms, ranging from old-school classic casino machines to modern games with 3D animation. It’s simple to play with a few basic clicks by the player. The game’s automated dealer deals your first hand of cards, you choose which ones to hold or discard, and the dealer deals again.

You’ll find many versions of video poker available at online casinos, like All American or Deuces Wild.

As well as video poker, Ontario offers legal online poker rooms. However, these are normally offered separately to the games at Ontario online casinos.

Other Games

Casinos have a number of specialty games including scratch-offs, arcade games, lotteries, and more. Part of the fun of exploring an online casino is finding a new game that could become your new favorite, and these variety games offer a nice alternative to the more traditional, classic casino games.

In this section, you might find Dragon Tiger, a simplified form of baccarat. Other unique card games include Sic Bo and Super Sic No, Pai Gow, and Teen Patti. Keno is a lottery game popular at land-based casinos, and you’ll also find spin-to-win wheels like Crazy Time.

Arcade games are becoming more popular at online casinos. LuckyTap is a style of game where you try to launch an object at a target, and there are several variants.  If you’re looking for something more familiar, there are casino versions of classic games like Monopoly, Yahtzee, or Pachinko.

How We Rated the Best Online Casinos in Ontario

Using our rating system, every writer at WSN follows the same set of guidelines to bring you the best online casino reviews. We spend a minimum of two hours each on five key areas that are important to players, ensuring we get a comprehensive overview of every site.

Here’s what we look for when rating online casinos:

  • User experience - We look for online casinos that provide players with a positive experience. We approach every casino from the regular new player’s perspective, giving our honest opinion about their performance and design. We sign up for an account, test the casino on both desktop and mobile, and play dozens of games.

  • Games/Features - We try out a number of games, including slots, table and live dealer games, and video poker. We look at how many games a casino offers and how well they’re organized into categories. We look for new and interesting titles, exclusive games, bonus game features, and the size of jackpots. Our top casino picks are ones that offer a wide variety of games for every type of player, from diverse and reputable software providers.

  • Bonuses/Promotions - We know how much our players love promotions, so we personally claim all of the ones available at a casino. We look at the number of promotions available, how often they change, the size of the welcome bonus offer, and the terms and conditions. We claim every bonus ourselves and give you our honest opinion about which ones are worth it.

  • Payment options - We look at which methods an online casino uses to process payments, including bank transfers, credit cards, and e-wallets. We test out each method, checking out the user fees, deposit/withdrawal limits, and processing times. We’ll tell you if a casino makes payments simple or complicated for their players.

  • Customer support - We check to see how many options there are to contact customer support, including phone, email, and live chat. We’ll try out each method to see how fast and knowledgeable the customer support team is at each casino. We also look at the Help and FAQ pages to see how helpful they are at answering common questions.

Why Trust Us?

At WSN, we work to earn our readers’ trust by bringing them the best information on the internet. We know that you’re looking for accurate and unbiased information about the online gambling industry.

With this kind of hands-on testing, you can trust that our reviews come from personal experience.

Since the industry evolves rapidly, a dedicated team of editors fact-checks information and updates reviews every month, ensuring the content stays current.

We also leverage that experience to create top-of-the line casino learning hub where you can learn anything from how to play keno to what is a progressive jackpot.

Every review guarantees honest, transparent information to help players make informed decisions about where to play.

Responsible Gambling in Ontario

When it comes to responsible gambling, Ontario takes proactive measures to support individuals who may be facing gambling-related challenges. The province has implemented a range of initiatives and organizations dedicated to promoting responsible gambling practices and providing assistance when needed. One such organization is the Responsible Gambling Council (RGC), which serves as a valuable resource for individuals seeking help and information.

The RGC offers a wide array of support services and resources designed to help individuals avoid gambling problems and take appropriate action if issues arise. Their website provides a quick and informative gambling quiz that allows individuals to assess their gambling habits and understand potential risks. This self-assessment tool serves as a valuable first step in promoting awareness and responsible gambling practices.

In addition to the quiz, the RGC's website also offers comprehensive information on the long-term cost of gambling. Understanding the financial implications of gambling over time can empower individuals to make informed decisions and exercise control over their gambling activities. By providing this crucial information, the RGC aims to promote responsible gambling behavior and prevent potential harm.

Another essential resource in Ontario is OLG's PlaySmart program, which is dedicated to helping players make informed choices and maintain a positive and enjoyable gaming experience. PlaySmart offers a wealth of information on responsible gambling practices, including tips on setting limits, recognizing signs of problematic behavior, and accessing support if needed. Through educational materials, interactive tools, and community outreach initiatives, PlaySmart strives to empower individuals with the knowledge and tools they need to gamble responsibly.

Furthermore, the Ontario Problem Gambling Helpline (1-888-230-3505) plays a vital role in providing assistance and connecting individuals with problem gambling treatment resources in the province. This helpline serves as a confidential and accessible support system for individuals seeking guidance and support. Trained professionals are available to offer information, referrals, and guidance on available treatment options and support networks.

The collaborative efforts of organizations like the Responsible Gambling Council, OLG's PlaySmart, and the Ontario Problem Gambling Helpline underscore the province's commitment to responsible gambling practices. By promoting awareness, providing valuable resources, and offering support networks, Ontario strives to ensure that individuals can engage in gambling activities responsibly and seek help if needed. These initiatives contribute to a safer and more accountable gambling environment, protecting the well-being of individuals across the province.

We believe that online gambling should be a positive and fun experience. If you need support for your gambling activity, here are five resources available for residents in Ontario.

  4. PlaySmart: Operated by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, PlaySmart has developed online tools to help track your playing history and stick to a budget. The site also includes My PlayBreak, a guide to declaring self-exclusion from gambling.
