One of the strong favorites to lift the trophy in Qatar, Argentina are unlikely to be caused too much trouble by Saudi Arabia.
After the debacle that was World Cup 2018, Lionel Scaloni has done a magnificent rebuilding job at the head of the two-time champions.
He led Argentina to Copa America glory last summer - the country’s first trophy at senior level since they were crowned continental champions in 1993 - and has created a side that is capable of playing slick attacking soccer.
Lionel Messi is the key man but there is talent elsewhere in midfield and attack, even if there are one or two worries about the defense. But although Herve Renard has tried to make Saudi Arabia more attacking, the Green Falcons have perennially disappointed in modern World Cups. This should be a comfortable start for Argentina.

Denmark are one of the dark horses going into the tournament. Semi-finalists at the European Championship last summer, they have only improved since then and will arrive in Qatar quietly confident of beating France to top spot in Group D.
At the aforementioned Euros, Denmark was impressed with their balance, cohesion and tactical flexibility. They switched seamlessly from a back three to a back four without missing a beat. Kasper Hjulmand’s side might not have the star quality of the outright favorites, but few collectives operate better than the Danes.
Tunisia have a tendency to fall to the occasion when the World Cup comes around, with just one win in their last 12 matches in the competition. Denmark should pick up all three points in this one.

This could be the most significant match taking place on Tuesday. The best online sportsbooks expect Argentina to finish top of Group C and Saudi Arabia to finish bottom, with Mexico and Poland fighting it out for second place. The winner of this game will therefore be in pole position to advance.
Mexico are desperate to end a remarkable run which has seen them eliminated in the round of 16 at every World Cup since 1994. But there is genuine fear among soccer fans in the country that El Tri might not even make it to the first knockout round this time around.
Indeed, we fancy Poland to come out on top in this match. Robert Lewandowski will be the outstanding player on the pitch, with support provided by the in-form Piotr Zielinski and the gifted Sebastian Szymański.
Poland’s defense is not the most watertight, but Mexico have real issues in attack. Back the Europeans here.

France are among the favorites to lift the World Cup trophy on December 18, but it is worth noting that defending champions have tended to struggle in recent tournaments. France (2002), Italy (2010), Spain (2014) and Germany (2018) all crashed out in the group phase.
The kindness of the draw means les Bleus will probably avoid that fate, but this writer does not believe they will follow in the footsteps of Italy (1934 and 1938) and Brazil (1958 and 1962) by winning back-to-back World Cups.
It is hard to see them slipping up against this Australia side, though. The Socceroos were unconvincing in qualifying, finishing a distant third in their group and then scraping past Peru on penalties in the inter-confederation play-offs.
France may not dazzle on matchday one (they were slow starters in Russia four years ago) but a win is well within their grasp.
