2019 PGA Championship – Bethpage Black

The Bethpage Black is a brutally long course that favors golfers who maintain accurate driving and exceptional length.

The course has held two majors, both U.S. Opens and two FedEx tournaments, the ’12 and ’16 Barclays tournament.

Tiger Woods won the 2002 U.S. Open title during his incredible peak in the early 00s.

In 2009, Lucas Glover won a rain-altered U.S. Open at Bethpage with a strong combination of length and accuracy coupled with clutch putting that saved his scores and lifted him to the title.

Although he’s just outside the two favorites, if Woods is healthy, then the course certainly plays to his strengths.

After a practice round on the Black, Woods said, “I feel good. Played at home for four days. Got a couple more days of work to get in and I’ll be ready to go.”

Who Has the Best Chance at Posting the Lowest Round?

Rory McIlroy

To score well at Bethpage, you have to be aggressive and Rory loves the Bethpage setup, so expect at least one low round that could challenge for this prop bet.

Tiger Woods

Tiger loves to get in the lead and stay there, if he’s in contention on the weekend, it will be because he posted a low round in the opening rounds.

Brooks Koepka

Possibly the most aggressive golfer on the PGA Tour, Koepka has the complete game to dominate this weekend.

Dustin Johnson

Johnson has the distance and the accuracy to tame the Black’s length and create a low score that takes the crown for lowest round.

Bryson Dechambeau

When the quirky Dechambeau gets locked in, he can drop a mid-60s round in the middle of a tournament.

Although Dechambeau isn’t really consider a longshot, this mid-range play has the potential to pay dividends if the golfer gets out to an early lead in the first round.
