Padres vs. Giants - Dylan Cease vs. Robbie Ray (3:45 PM, EST)

Dylan Cease is having a disappointing season. It was surprising to see him even give up seven hits in 4.2 innings against the Pirates in his last start. 

Cease is especially bad on the road with a 5.68 ERA and a 0-2 record over six starts. However, when Cease throws against great pitchers, he tends to elevate his game. 

The Padres' offense should be relatively quiet early in this contest. They will have an extensive challenge against Robbie Ray, who has been fantastic in 2025.

It will be surprising to see the Padres hit until the bullpen enters this game with Ray on the hill. His stats have been in the upper echelon of baseball. 

Ray is 7-1 with a 2.43 ERA and a 1.11 WHIP. He has 78 strikeouts in 70.1 innings and has surrendered just 48 hits. 

Pitching and home-field advantage swing toward San Francisco. Hopefully, the Giants' offense is quiet early in the game, and Cease can rise to the occasion.

Astros vs. Pirates  - Framber Valdez vs. Mitch Keller (3:45 PM, EST)

Framber Valdez and Mitch Keller have both been respectable this season. Valdez has been better than Keller, but both pitchers are good enough to deliver a successful NRFI wager. 

Valdez is 5-4 with a 3.12 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP. He has allowed just 59 hits in 78 innings, but walks have consistently been an issue in 2025. 

If Valdez controls his walks in the first inning, he will be fine against a mediocre Pirates offense. Pittsburgh has been scrutinized for bad offense in 2025, and this should continue on Thursday. 

Mitch Keller is the more concerning side of the NRFI in this game. Keller is 1-7, but he has a 3.73 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP. 

Keller has also done an excellent job not allowing homers, which is a perk of having him on the hill. He has surrendered just four home runs in 70 innings, a fantastic percentage for the right-hander. 

If these pitchers perform to their standard, the NRFI bet is very attainable.
