Best NRFI Bets Today: Jacob deGrom Faces Aaron Nola

We’re two days into baseball season, and there have been a lot of low totals to start the year. Pitchers have been dominant, and I expect this to continue on Saturday.

I have selected two NRFI wagers for the Saturday slate where the pitchers are strong.

Best NRFI Bets Today 2026 03 28 Rangers Jacob deGrom

Rangers vs. Phillies - Cole Ragans vs. Chris Sale (4:00 PM EST)

Under 0.5 Run (-132) at FanDuel Sportsbook

The Texas Rangers take on the Philadelphia Phillies in a premier pitching matchup between Aaron Nola and Jacob deGrom. The NRFI didn’t hit in game one of the series, but it has a great chance for the second matchup.

Nola is one of the most consistent pitchers in baseball, built on elite command and the ability to limit walks. The biggest asset for a pitcher is control, and Nola is fantastic.

deGrom, when healthy, has been one of the best pitchers in the game. While he isn’t the same pitcher as he once was, he still has solid control and a great arsenal.

The Phillies lineup has plenty of power, but early-season timing can be inconsistent, helping the pitcher. On the other side, Texas brings a balanced lineup, but Nola’s can shut any offense down.

Red Sox vs. Reds - Sonny Gray vs. Brady Singer (4:10 PM EST)

Under 0.5 Run (-136) at FanDuel Sportsbook

The Boston Red Sox face the Cincinnati Reds in a matchup featuring Sonny Gray and Brady Singer. There are dangerous hitters for both lineups, but the offenses started slow in game one of the series.

Gray has quietly been one of the most effective pitchers in baseball over the years. He does a great job of limiting hard contact, which is key in the first inning when pitchers are looking to settle in quickly.

Singer brings a heavy sinker-slider combination that induces ground balls and weak contact. His ability to keep the ball on the ground makes him a strong candidate to work through the first inning efficiently.

Neither offense is known for consistently explosive starts. Early in the season, hitters are still adjusting to timing, and that often shows up most in the first inning.

With two pitchers who excel at limiting damage and avoiding big innings, this game profiles well for an NRFI.

Twins vs. Orioles - Taj Bradley vs. Kyle Bradish (4:05 PM EST)

Under 0.5 Run (-128) at FanDuel Sportsbook

Kyle Bradish emerged as one of the top arms in the American League last season. He has a 2.53 ERA and a 1.03 WHIP in his time on the mound.

Taj Bradley brings electric stuff with a high-velocity fastball that can overwhelm hitters. His strikeout upside makes him a strong NRFI option, as he has the ability to escape trouble without relying on defense.

The Orioles lineup is talented, but they only scored two runs in the opener. The Twins also have power throughout their lineup, but their offense was even worse than Baltimore.

Both pitchers have the tools to neutralize opposing lineups the first time through the order, making this a strong candidate for a scoreless first inning.
