Houston Rockets vs. Golden State Warriors Betting Pick

The Golden State Warriors took a severe blow to their morale after Game 5, but their realistic goal was to rely on a series-clinching Game 6 at home. The Warriors' star men will be well-rested after their blowout loss and perform worthy of an elimination game. The Rockets were brilliant in their last match, but getting 20-plus points each from Thompson, Green, and Brooks in another game is unlikely. To make matters worse, Jalen Green hasn't rediscovered his scoring touch, while Sengun is coming off a quiet night. Expect the Warriors stars, Curry and Butler, to lead the way on Friday night as they leverage their experience to upset the second-seeded Rockets.

Houston Rockets Preview

The Rockets enter Game 6 in excellent form after earning a blowout win in Game 5 to stave off elimination. They’ll need to do it again on Friday night to force a Game 7 on Sunday night. Their veteran members–Brooks and VanVleet–stepped up on Wednesday, but young stars Jalen Green, Alperen Sengun, and Amen Thompson must lead the way.

Houston was on fire on Wednesday night, outgunning the Warriors to force a Game 6. They scored 131 points on 55.1% from the field while hitting 13 threes on 43.3% efficiency. Their aggression helped them get to the free throw line, converting on 33 compared to the Warriors’ 15 on the night. Houston’s offensive explosion was unexpected, and defense is usually their calling card, but they’ll need a stellar night on both ends to stop the Warriors on their home court.

One of the best games against the spread this season, the Houston Rockets have posted a 46-40-1 ATS Record, seventh-best in the league. They have a 53.5% cover percentage, a +4.3 margin of victory, and a +1.5 ATS +/- this season. The Rockets swept the odds table last game, covering the spread (-4.0), hitting over the total (202.5), and winning outright (-179).

The Rockets were excellent on offense in Game 5 despite a quiet scoring night from Alperen Sengun. The trio of Fred VanVleet, Dillon Brooks, and Amen Thompson combined to score 75 points on 23-of-34 shooting. That lineup was also key to their defense, forcing 14 turnovers from the Warriors. Sengun had a quiet night, but it’s likely nothing to worry about. However, Jalen Green continues to struggle, as he put up just 11 points in 28 minutes in the last game.

Regarding the Houston Rockets injury report, (C) Jock Landale (Knee) is ruled out for Game 6, as well as (F) Jae’Sean Tate (Ankle).

Golden State Warriors Preview

Game 6 will feature a thrilling matchup when the Golden State Warriors host the Houston Rockets. With the opportunity to clinch the series, the veteran-laden Warriors lineup will be locked in. After a poor showing in Game 5, expect Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler to bounce back on Friday night.

The Golden State Warriors couldn’t keep up with the Rockets out of the gate in Game 5. They were defeated by the end of the first quarter, where they were outscored 24 to 40 and allowed Houston to shoot 64.7% from the field with five made threes. Despite improving as the game went on, even winning the second half 67-55, it was too little, too late. The Warriors must keep pace from tip-off to clinch the series and book their ticket to the second round.

The Warriors were a coin toss against the spread this season, posting a 43-42-3 ATS Record and ranking 13th in the NBA. They have a 50.6% cover percentage, a +3.1 margin of victory, and a -0.3 ATS +/- this season. Despite the embarrassing loss, the Warriors hit over the total (202.5) in Game 5.

Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler were paired together to generate another championship run for the Warriors, but they were poor in a close-out game on Wednesday. They scored just 21 points combined on six made field goals. Moses Moody led the way off the bench, scoring 25 points in 26 minutes. It’s been an up-and-down series, but after the reemergence of the Rockets offense, the Warriors must find production from their stars and role players like Hield and Podziemski.

The Golden State Warriors have no injuries to report.
