Golden State Warriors vs. Houston Rockets Betting Pick

Jimmy Butler’s return to the lineup was a game-changer for the Golden State Warriors in Game 4, and he projects to help them clinch the series in Game 5. The Houston Rockets aren’t significantly lacking against the Warriors, but their inexperience and inconsistency from the perimeter have cost them in this series. Alperen Sengun has been brilliant in this series, but young stars Jalen Green and Jabari Smith might be playing their team out of this series. Experience will win over enthusiasm in Game 5 as the Warriors aim to secure their second-round ticket.

Golden State Warriors Preview

The Golden State Warriors looked like their late-season moves would ultimately fail them when they entered this series. However, as the series progressed, Stephen Curry and disruptive sidekicks Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green gained more control over it. With a closeout game in hand, expect a stellar performance from one of the league’s greatest dynasties.

The Warriors showed out in their Game 4 win over the Rockets. They scored 109 points on 41.9% from the field while hitting 17 threes on 37.0% efficiency. Their passing quality was central to their success, collecting 27 assists on 36 field goals. However, defense was the story in Game 4, and the Warriors can clinch the series if they can hold down the Rockets’ perimeter scorers and playmakers once again.

The Golden State Warriors have been middling against the spread this season, posting a 43-41-3 ATS Record, 12th in the NBA. They have a 51.2% cover percentage, a +3.3 margin of victory, and a -0.2 ATS +/- this season. Golden State won outright in Game 5 (-160) and hit over the total (203.5).

Returning to the lineup after suffering an injury, Jimmy Butler was locked in for Game 4. He led the way with 27 points, six assists, five and five rebounds, with 12 of his points coming from the free throw line. His presence on the court makes the Warriors a completely different team, and with his scoring and playmaking engaged, Golden State can give Curry a break while still keeping up on both ends.

Regarding the Golden State Warriors injury report, Jimmy Butler (Pelvis) is a game time decision for Game 5.

Houston Rockets Preview

From here on out, the Houston Rockets have their backs against the wall on Wednesday night. After a narrow loss in Game 4, the Rockets are on the brink of elimination. Facing an experienced Warriors side, the Rockets must find a way to keep pace on offense to win Game 5!

The Rockets weren’t far from winning in Game 4, but they failed in key areas, which resulted in their loss. They scored 106 on 49.4% from the field and 47.8% from three. Their 12 missed free throws will be looked at as the sole cause of their failure, but their lack of shot creation, 18 assists on 38 field goals, was just as responsible for the result. They won the rebounding battle by seven, a signal of their gritty attitude throughout the series.

The Houston Rockets were one of the NBA’s better teams against the spread this season, posting a 45-40-1 ATS Record, ranking them seventh in the NBA. They have a 52.9% cover percentage, a +4.2 margin of victory, and a +1.2 ATS +/- this season. Houston scored over the total (203.5) in Game 4.

Through his first NBA Playoff series, Jalen Green has mostly disappointed. Besides his 38-point explosion in Game 2, Green has put up single-digit scoring nights in every other match. He’s coming off a Game 4 showing where he put up eight points, three rebounds, and one made three on 37.6% shooting. The Rockets have elimination on the line, and while nobody expects Green to reach his Game 2 level of performance, without a strong offensive night, the Rockets will likely end their season here.

Regarding the Houston Rockets injury report, Jae’Sean Tate (Ankle) is ruled out for Game 5.
