The Bears rank 29th in YPC average on the ground
Brock Purdy completed 73.5% of his passes for 295 yards and 5 TDs last week
Cairo Santos has attempted 2+ FGs in three straight games
Many NFL fans may not have had this Holiday Sunday Night Football matchup circled on their calendars earlier this season, but it now promises to be one of the best games of Week 17. The NFC North-leading Chicago Bears will visit the San Francisco 49ers, a team fighting to win the NFC West. Both teams have 11 wins and a chance at the NFC’s top playoff seed, turning this game into a crucial one.

We aren’t buying the hype after the Bears' Week 16 win. Chicago didn’t look good on either side of the ball all game, only managing to steal a win after injuries wrecked Green Bay’s offense. A botched onside kick from Romeo Doubs allowed the Bears to get to overtime and wear their battered rivals down.
The Bears will be facing a very different test this week, especially on defense. The Niners' offense is finally healthy and firing on all cylinders. They are averaging 34.4 points per game during their five-game win streak, and posted last week. Brock Purdy has settled in and gotten hot in the previous two weeks, completing 75% of his passes for 590 yards and eight touchdowns. He has just one interception over his past three games.
The Bears' defense leads the NFL in turnovers and is third in penalties, which has covered for their poor play. They rank 24th in yards allowed per game (348.1) and nineteenth in scoring (23.6 PPG). Their run defense is the biggest concern, ranking 29th in the league in YPC average (5.0).
Speaking of run defense, that has remained a strength for the Niners. They shut down the NFL’s second-leading rusher, Jonathan Taylor, last week, holding him to 46 yards on 16 carries. It continued a three-game streak where San Francisco has held their opponent to under 100 yards on the ground. The unit will be able to negate Chicago’s impressive run game, forcing Caleb Williams to try to beat them.

BetMGM isn’t letting us move the line for this bet, but we believe it's still worth locking in at this price.
As we mentioned above, Purdy has been reminding us why the Niners stuck with him this season. Last week was his best game of the season, completing 73.5% of his passes for 295 yards and five touchdowns. It was his second consecutive week finishing with a passer rating above 126, and he has a great chance to extend that streak again tonight.
The reason why the spread for this matchup is so close is the Bears' ability to force turnovers. They lead the league with 21 interceptions, which could be a problem for Purdy. While that may prevent this game from being a blowout, it won’t stop Purdy from easily surpassing this total.

Taking a McCaffrey prop was tempting, but his play this season makes us nervous to trust him too much.
That leads us to our favorite NFL kicker: Cairo Santos. The Brazilian placekicker has been a crucial part of the Bears' success, including during a windy game against the Packers last week. After a somewhat shaky start to the season, the veteran has made 13 of his last 15 field goal attempts.
Santos has also been seeing a lot of action, attempting at least two in three consecutive games.
With the Bears' offense ranking 16th in red zone offense, we count on Santos getting several tries in prime time.
