Best Chiefs vs. Chargers Prop Bets: Chiefs Playoff Hopes Dwindling

  • According to NFL.com, the Chiefs’ playoff chances are 13% right now and would drop below 1% with a loss.

  • The Chargers are coming off a 22-19 win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

  • Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is two weeks removed from having surgery on his non-throwing wrist.

In Week 15, we have a high-stakes matchup as the Kansas City Chiefs host the Los Angeles Chargers.

These teams met on an international field in Week 1, and the Chargers won, 27-21.

Last week, Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert had to face an Eagles defense just one week after having surgery on his injured non-throwing wrist, and thanks to four interceptions from his defense, the Chargers got the win.

As for the Chiefs, it's hard to believe, but they could very well miss the postseason. If they lose this game, their playoff hopes drop to less than 1%, according to NFL.com. If they win, it's still low at 19%.

Thus, the Chiefs aren't anywhere near the top of the Super Bowl odds.

On the other hand, both teams are inside the top eight in our NFL defense rankings.

Chiefs vs. Chargers Prop Bets 2025 12 14

Travis Kelce Anytime TD (+205) at Fanatics Sportsbook

Heading into Week 15, the Chargers have only allowed six touchdowns to tight ends, but they’ve given up some decent production over the last two weeks.

Against the Las Vegas Raiders and Philadelphia Eagles, the Chargers allowed a combined 13 receptions on 15 targets for 149 yards and two touchdowns.

In Week 1, Kelce scored a touchdown against the Chargers, along with hauling in two catches for 47 yards.

The Chargers primarily play Cover-3 and Cover-4, and against those coverages this season, Kelce has caught 26 passes for 340 yards and a touchdown.

Those receptions and receiving yards are nearly half of his production.

Also, Kelce has scored twice over the last four games.

The Chiefs’ playoff hopes hang in the balance, so targeting a reliable option like Kelce makes sense against a division rival.

Justin Herbert Over 210.5 Passing Yards (-110) at Fanatics Sportsbook

In Week 14, just one week after having surgery on his wrist (non-throwing), Herbert completed just 12 of 26 passes for 139 yards, one touchdown, one pick, and ran 10 times for 66 yards.

However, with another week of healing and practice, reaching 211 yards should be doable.

He’s had 211 yards or more in eight of 13 games this season and is taking on a Chiefs’ defense that mostly plays Cover-3.

Against Cover-3, Herbert has completed 69.6% of his passes for 966 yards, including 7.7 yards per attempt.

With his wrist issue, the Chiefs could send the blitz more often—they’re tied for ninth in blitzes, sending it on 137 opposing quarterback dropbacks—but Herbert has played well against the blitz, completing 66.9% of his passes for 1,198 yards, 10 touchdowns, and four interceptions.

Also, when pressured, he’s thrown for 986 yards, eight touchdowns, and four interceptions.

I don’t think we’ll necessarily see a shootout, but we could see some back-and-forth between two teams fighting for playoff spots.

Omarion Hampton Anytime TD (+160) at Fanatics Sportsbook

In Week 14, Hampton played his first game since Week 5, and in that matchup, he ran 13 times for 56 yards (4.3 yards per carry) and caught two passes for 11 yards and a score.

Now, he’ll face a Chiefs defense that’s allowed four rushing touchdowns over their last five games and receiving touchdowns to running backs in back-to-back games.

From Weeks 1 through 5, caught 20 of 22 passes for 136 yards and also handled 73.3% of the Chargers’ running back carries.

Opposing running backs have had 20 carries or more against the Chiefs over the past two weeks, too.

With Herbert’s non-throwing wrist injury, look for Hampton to get more action in the passing game and continue to run against a vulnerable defense.

He’s in a great spot to find the end zone.
