Patrick Mahomes has been ruled out for the rest of the season
The Kansas City Chiefs have been eliminated from playoff contention
The Tennessee Titans' front seven ranks top-10 in Pass Rush Win Rate
Not only did the Kansas City Chiefs get eliminated from playoff contention after last week’s loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, but Patrick Mahomes has also been ruled out for the rest of the year after tearing his ACL. With Mahomes on the sideline, negative regression looms large over the Chiefs' offense in an AFC conference matchup against Tennessee as the Titans' defense generates pressure at a high rate.

Even though the Kansas City Chiefs have underwhelmed, Patrick Mahomes was still able to play at a high level as the former two time MVP ranked near the top of the board in Quarterback EPA per Play before he went down with an injury. With Mahomes out, the Chiefs offense are poised to regress as there will be a sizable drop off in production with Gardner Minshew under center.
To make matters worse for Minshew, he will be under a relentless amount of pressure in his first start with the Chiefs as he faces off against the Tennessee Titans who rank in the top-10 in Pass Rush Win Rate. With Minshew forced to get the ball out of his hands quickly after the snap while on the run, the quality of his throws will harshly decline which lowers his chances of connecting with his receivers.

Not only will the Titans pressure lessen the quality of Minshew’s throws, but it will also handicap his ability to generate an explosive play as the Chiefs' pass catchers will have less time in their routes to break away from their secondary. With a defender expected to be on their hips at the point of contact for the full duration of the contest, the Titans will be able to consistently create disruptions and bring the Chiefs' receivers down shortly after the catch.

Since the start of the regular season, Tony Pollard has been one of the lone bright spots for the Titans' offense as he currently ranks above league average in Yards Over Expected per Attempt. An impressive feat when factoring in the low-quality running lanes his offensive line creates with their protection as the Titans' front five ranks 29th overall in Run Block Set Grade.
Fortunately for Pollard, he will have a great opportunity to build on his momentum against the Chiefs as he faces off against a front seven who ranks near dead last in Run Defense Line Yards. For some more exposure, escalator bet Pollard’s rushing yardage prop by placing smaller wagers on his alternate overs at the best available odds across multiple sportsbooks.

When in scoring position, Pollard has been the focal point of the Titans' offense as he currently leads the team in total Red Zone Carries with a 61.5% Usage Rate. When his number is called, Pollard has been productive as he is averaging 3.3 Yards per Attempt while converting 3 of his 16 Carries into touchdowns.
In Sunday’s contest against the Chiefs, expect Pollard to gash their front seven in the Red Zone as he faces off against a defense who ranks below league average in Def EPA. With Tyjae Spears also carving out a role near the goal line, place a separate smaller wager on the Titans' versatile running back to score as well.
