Joe Flacco is coming off of his best game of the season, going for 342 yards and three touchdowns
Ja’Marr Chase had 16 receptions for 161 yards and and a touchdown last Thursday
The Jets planned to start Tyrod Taylor at QB, though his status is in question
The New York Jets and Cincinnati Bengals will become entangled in a matchup between AFC opponents on Sunday in NFL Week 8.
The biggest news of the week was Jets owner Woody Johnson publicly slamming quarterback Justin Fields, who was benched at halftime of last week’s loss to the Carolina Panthers. Tyrod Taylor took over and was expected to start on Sunday to try to revitalize one of the league’s worst offenses, but Taylor popped up on the team injury report as questionable with a knee injury.
On the other side, Joe Flacco’s excellent showing for the Bengals restored the belief that the team could compete in the AFC North and secure a playoff spot. Flacco and company will get to follow up their win on TNF last week against the only winless team left in the league.

Chase was nothing short of sensational against the Steelers last week, catching 16 of 23 targets for 161 yards and a touchdown en route to a 33-31 victory. Flacco, an old-school QB, quickly identified his favorite target and threw it in his direction as many times as he possibly could.
Chase is still clearly one of the two best receivers in the game of football, and the connection that he and Flacco showed was outstanding, given their lack of practice time together. That said, the Jets are ninth in passing yards allowed per game, Sauce Gardner is a terrific cornerback, and there’s no guarantee that the up-and-down Flacco will have his best stuff two weeks in a row.

Hall has a lot of favorable advanced analytics, but his raw production has suffered as a result of Fields’ inability to throw the ball downfield, and the Jets nearly always playing from behind. Hall averaged 64 rushing yards per game and went under in four of seven outings, including back-to-back contests against the Panthers and Denver Broncos.
The Bengals have very few redeeming qualities on defense, but until Fields or Taylor proves they can move the ball through the air, every defense that faces the Jets will be able to key in on the running game. Hall is still a very good player, but he’s just in an environment that isn’t conducive to individual success.

Flacco, now the ripe age of 40, ripped off 342 yards and three touchdowns in the win over the Steelers last week despite only being traded from the Browns just over a week before. He’s only beaten this line twice in six games, and ironically, the other time was when we tallied 290 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions in a Week 1 loss against the Bengals.
Flacco can still be explosive from a raw yards perspective, but he is also prone to lulls and valleys. He averaged 229.3 passing yards per game, and while he now has two stellar wide receivers capable of beating any coverage, he’s also working with the worst offensive line in professional football.
