It’s episode 132 of Wise Kracks and we are reacting to the Tom Brady retirement before taking a look at the Super Bowl LVII matchup: Kansas City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles. We talk about the quarterback-less San Francisco 49ers, questionable officiating from Championship Sunday, preseason odds for both of these teams (the Eagles ranked behind the Broncos in Super Bowl odds back in August!) and so much more as we turn our attention to The Big Game.
Your hosts Bill Krackomberger and Jon Orlando take a look back at Championship Sunday and discuss the opening line for the Super Bowl. Is there value in the current line? Is the futures market exploitable or a trap? Bill has an issue with how some things are priced and he lets you in on his strong takes.
“You’re market handicapping as much as you are betting the actual game.”
Bill breaks down how sharp some sportsbooks are. Line shopping continues to be one of the most valuable tools at your disposal and allows you to gain an edge against the books that like to “throw chum into the water” in an effort to take your money. He also takes issue with the trend of online books posting Hail Mary bet wins and the perception it gives off the new bettors.

Cute option or a sucker bet? The guys discuss novelty bets: both the creation of them and if they are interested in betting them as we near Super Sunday. “The prop packets will be available tonight” revels Bill as he encourages you to take a look before they get fully flushed out. “It’s tougher now than it used to be [to beat these markets] because of the variety of books and availability of information.”
“Early on the overs, late on the unders” is the Krackman’s general approach to betting the Super Bowl. Chasing value is critical … that doesn’t mean necessarily betting the side or total, so tune in to catch up on some of his early leans as the lines have yet to fully mature.
“Stop trying to be perfect.” The guys go over measuring expectations for big betting weeks. They toss around how dangerous it is for sportsbooks to post pictures of huge winning tickets and remind you that you’ll never go broke making a profit. Are the big wins fun? Of course, but grinding out small edges is what makes betting a sustainable source of income, a concept that few new bettors acknowledge.
“There’s no entertainment value when you’re betting actual dollars. This is a secret thing that no one is talking about …”
Bill gives you a valuable tip when it comes to searching the board-specific props to target.
“My balls was hot.”
Does Derrick Lewis (+195, consecutive losses) get back in the win column against Serghei Spivak (5-1 over his past six fights)? Jon has a strong feel for the Main Event this weekend and will be in attendance. The Prelims kickoff at 10:00 pm EST with the five-fight Main Card expected to start around 1:00 am.
