Overeem (44-17-1) vs Oleinik (57-11-0-1) – Heavyweight Division

Alistair Overeem, 38, aims to stay in the win column after going 1-2 in his last three fights when he takes on Aleksei Oleinik. Oleinik stepped in on two-weeks notice to fight Overeem – replacing Alexander Volkov, who, at the time of writing, pulled out of the fight for undisclosed reasons. Overeem last fought on November 28, 2018 at UFC Fight Night where he finished Sergey Pavlovich via TKO in the first round. Prior to that fight, Overeem had lost back-to-back fights against Curtis Blaydes and Francis Ngannou. He is currently ranked number seven in the UFC heavyweight division.

”The Reem” stands at 6 feet, 4 inches tall and usually weighs in roughly at the 245-pound mark. He has an 80 inch reach. Overeem fights out of the Netherlands and last year moved fight camps from Jackson-Wink MMA to Team Elevation. He is a former K1 kickboxing champion with a muay thai style. Alistair has a green belt in judo and a blue belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu under the Valente’s.

As mentioned earlier, Aleksei Oleinik was not the original opponent for Overeem but he was eager to step in. Oleinik, 41, was last seen in the Octagon on September 15, 2018 where he was part of the main event against Mark Hunt. Oleinik submitted Hunt with a rear-naked choke in the first round. His fight before that saw him submit Junior Albini with an ezekiel choke – the twelfth ezekiel choke of his MMA career – the only fighter to do so. He is on a two-fight win streak and ranked ninth among UFC heavyweights.

”The Boa Constrictor” stands at 6 feet, 2 inches tall and also has an 80 inch reach. The Ukrainian fights out of Moscow, Russia with the K-Dojo Warrior Tribe and American Top Team. He has a sambo style and has a fourth-degree black belt in jujitsu and a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu under Ricardo Liborio. He has an International Master of Sports in sambo.
