With home run props, the best candidates are often the ones who are in the midst of a hot streak. Even if they aren’t hitting home runs, a lot of hits and a little bit of power can be signs that home runs are on the way. That logic helped us with our home run picks for Wednesday. Aaron Judge was the obvious candidate, but we found a few others who fit the bill.

Judge has been on an absolute tear lately, already hitting four home runs in July, including homers in three of his last four games. Once he gets in a groove like this, there’s no telling how many home runs he can hit in a short period, so there’s no reason not to take a chance on him Wednesday.
Granted, Judge has never faced Seattle’s Logan Evans before. But Evans has allowed seven home runs in just 45.2 innings in the big leagues this season. If he’s not careful with Judge, he could get hurt.

With his 28 home runs this season, Suarez remains a constant threat. For him, four straight games without a home run is a long drought. Suarez is due to break out of it sooner or later, with Wednesday being a good opportunity against San Diego’s Dylan Cease.
In his career, Suarez is 3 for 8 with a home run against Cease. That’s not a huge sample size, but it’s enough to show that Suarez is comfortable facing Cease. Plus, Cease has allowed two home runs in back-to-back starts. He’s had some trouble lately, with Suarez being a good candidate to take advantage of that.

Greene and the Tigers are in great shape on Wednesday against Tampa’s Zack Littell, who has allowed the most home runs in the big leagues this season. Unlike most of Tampa’s pitching staff, most of Littell’s home runs have come on the road, so this game being in Detroit is a bigger problem for Littell than pitching in Tampa’s minor-league park.
As for Greene, he’s 5 for 9 with two doubles in his career against Greene. Despite not hitting a home run against him before, it’s safe to say that Greene likes what he sees when Littell is on the mound. Greene also has five home runs in his last 10 games, so this is a good opportunity to strike while the iron is hot.

Baltimore’s Tomoyuki Sugano is another pitcher who has had trouble keeping the ball in the ballpark this year. He’s tied for the sixth-most homers conceded with 19, including five over his last two starts. Most of Tomoyuki’s homers have been conceded at home, with a larger percentage coming against left-handed hitters, setting up nicely for all of the left-handed hitters the Mets have.
Among all of the options that the Mets have, especially after hitting three home runs against the Orioles on Tuesday, we chose Nimmo because he’s been on fire lately. He has three home runs and three multi-hit games over his last six games. With 18 home runs, his power is a little underrated, making him a great candidate to take Tomoyuki deep on Wednesday.
