There isn’t much to celebrate in South Chicago this season, but that may be changing. The team promoted one of their top prospects, shortstop Colton Montgomery, and he has been playing like a star. We’ll share why we like him to go deep tonight, along with two other home run prop bets we love.

As the national media continues to swoon over the Seattle Mariners, Jose Altuve is doing everything he can to keep the Astros atop the AL West. Since July 1. His average has risen from .257 to .281 since then, and he has gone deep six times. While the 35-year-old isn’t the superstar he once was, you wouldn’t guess it by watching him over the last month.
Altuve and the Astros will face Yankees’ rookie Cam Schlittler (1-2, 4.58 ERA, 1.68 WHIP) on the mound tonight. The 24-year-old is the team’s second-rated pitching prospect, but he has struggled to miss bats at the MLB level. He has also been giving up some home runs, allowing five over his four starts this season (19 ⅔ innings).
While Altuve struggled at Yankee Stadium last season, he’s had a lot of success there over his career. With a young pitcher on the mound and a hot bat, we love Aluve’s chances to go deep.

Carpenter missed a month on the IL this summer, but he has been incredible since returning on July 27. He has a .417 average with three home runs and seven RBIs since then. We like his chances to stay hot at home tonight, where he has a .310 average.
Carpenter will face Angels’ starter Kyle Hendricks (6-8, 4.59 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) on the mound tonight. The 35-year-old seemed to be saving his season in June, but that momentum did not carry over into July. He posted a 5.03 ERA over four starts that month, allowing three home runs.
Hendricks has been better about keeping the ball in the park, but that won’t last against this deep Detroit lineup. Hendricks will falter under the constant barrage before handing things off to an Angels bullpen that owns an ugly 4.88 ERA.

The 23-year-old shortstop is a top-five prospect for the White Sox, and has proven why since being called up on July 5. Montgomery has a decent batting average, but has flashed some scary power. With 25 starts under his belt, the shortstop has already hit eight home runs and driven in a whopping 24 RBIs.
We like Montgomery’s chances to keep his hot bat going with Guardians’ starter Tanner Bibbee (7-9, 4.51 ERA, 1.26 WHIP) on the mound. The 26-year-old has been a disaster over his last six starts, with a 6.39 ERA. His 21 home runs allowed this season are tied for the ninth most among all starters.
Montgomery went 0-2 against Bibbee with two strikeouts, but that game was played a week after he was promoted to the big leagues. With a hot bat and an excess of confidence, we love the shortstop’s chances to get some payback tonight.
