With Nick Pivetta set to take the mound, negative regression looms large over the Philadelphia Phillies offense as the San Diego Padres pitcher excels at avoiding contact. A few minutes after their opening pitch, we turn our attention towards Minnesota and Miami as Joe Ryan and Edward Cabrera get the benefit of throwing against a pair of offenses who struggle with getting into scoring position.

Nick Pivetta has managed to get off to a hot start this season as the San Diego Padres pitcher is currently averaging an ERA of 3.36, a WHIP of 1.033, and a FIP of 3.26. His success on the mound stems from his ability to create Whiffs at a consistent rate as Pivetta is also averaging less than one Hit Allowed and more than one Strikeout per Inning Pitched in his 16 starts.
Every bit of Pivetta’s production will be needed on Tuesday night as he is set to face off against a Philadelphia offense who ranks top-15 in Team Total Hits, RBIs, Total Runs Scored, and in On Base Percentage. Fortunately for Pivetta, his back end helps reduce the amount of contact variance in his starts as the Padres defense ranks above league average in Defensive Efficiency and in Fielding Percentage.
Cristopher Sanchez meanwhile draws a much more favorable matchup as the Phillies pitcher faces off against a Padres offense who ranks in the bottom half of the board in the same previously mentioned metrics. Expect the Padres struggles with making contact to continue to persist as Sanchez currently averages a WHIP of 1.164, a FIP of 2.95, and less than one Hit Against per Inning Pitched.

After steadily climbing up the AL Central division standings earlier in the year, the Minnesota Twins have come crashing back down by going 3-7 in their last 10 contests. Their regression can be pointed towards their low level of play on offense as the Twins lineup currently ranks in the bottom ten in Contact Rate and in On Base Percentage while residing in the top half of the board in Strikeout Rate.
Unfortunately for Minnesota, their struggles at the plate are poised to persist as they are set to face off against Edward Cabrera who is currently averaging an ERA of 3.78 and more than one Strikeout per Inning Pitched. While his WHIP of 1.368 is alarmingly high, the Twins low contact rate drastically increases his chances of keeping opposing runners off the bases and out of scoring position.
On the other side of the field, Joe Ryan is also set to face off against an offense who struggles with scoring as the Miami Marlins currently rank below league average in RBIs and Total Runs Scored. With Ryan averaging a WHIP of 0.887 and less than four Hits Allowed per game, expect the Marlins to continue to struggle with getting their runners into scoring position.

Houston Astros vs. Colorado Rockies - Colton Gordon vs. Chase Dollander - Expect the Houston Astros offense to build on their momentum as they are set to face off against the Colorado Rockies Chase Dollander who averages nearly two runners on base per inning and a defense who ranks dead last in Defensive Efficiency and in Fielding Percentage.
Detroit Tigers vs. Washington Nationals - Jack Flaherty vs. Trevor Williams - With Trevor Williams averaging an over one Hit Against per Inning Pitched and a WHIP of 1.469, the Detroit Tigers offense are in a great position to open up the scoring in the first inning as they rank above league average in Contact Rate and in On Base Percentage.
