The Boston Red Sox just took a series from the Cleveland Guardians and are currently in the second American League Wild Card position. The Diamondbacks' season is virtually over, as they don’t have much of a chance of playing in October.

Arizona is five games out of the final Wild Card spot, so their playoff chances are slim to none with a few weeks left in the season. However, they’ll still come out hot against one of the better teams in the American League.

Payton Tolle made his first start against the Pirates last week, and he was phenomenal. Tolle gave up three hits in 5.1 innings, striking out eight.

His strikeout ability is something I like as a NRFI bettor because he can escape trouble in the first inning. Eduardo Rodriguez hasn’t been great this season, but he tends to pitch better in big spots.

When he pitches against inferior opponents, he usually plays down and struggles. Rodriguez has been much better in August than July.

He has a 4.73 ERA this month compared to a 7.4 ERA last month. In the past seven days, he has a .200 opponent batting average, so he has found some balance in his pitching.

Luckily for Rodriguez, he won’t have to face Roman Anthony at the top of the order. Anthony is out with an oblique injury, and he is one of the most dangerous hitters in Boston’s typical lineup.

Phillies vs. Marlins - Cristopher Sanchez  vs. Valente Bellozo (7:10 PM, EST)

My second NRFI of the night is taking place in Miami with Marlins and Phillies. Philadelphia’s offense is one of the best in baseball, but they have to battle a great pitcher in Valente Bellozo to open the game.

Bellozo has a 3.91 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP. He doesn’t have great strikeout ability, but he is excellent at working batters. Hopefully, he will have his location on Friday so we can get through the first inning without any runs.

When the Marlins bat, they’ll face Cristoper Sanchez. Sanchez will be one of the players that the Phillies rely on in the playoffs. He is 11-5 with a 2.66 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP.

Sanchez has allowed just 149 hits in 169.1 innings with 181 strikeouts. Sanchez is everything a bettor would want when taking a NRFI.

There are very few bats at the top of the Marlins lineup that should present challenges for Sanchez. Therefore, I feel very good about this bet for a great -120 price.
