The Tigers and Marlins square off in Miami on Friday. Tarik Skubal is on his way to winning the AL Cy Young award, and he will go against Sandy Alcantara and the Marlins.

Skubal enters this contest with a record of 13-4 and a 2.10 ERA. He has struck out 222 batters in 180 innings, making him one of the best NRFI pitchers in baseball.

In Skubal’s last two starts, he has pitched 14 innings and hasn’t allowed a run. In this span, he has only allowed six hits while striking out ten.

Alcantara has had a rough 2025, but he has been dominant before this season. His overpowering fastball can be very effective, and he will shine against Detroit.

Alcantara is 8-12 in 2025, but he hasn’t received much run support. He has struck out 17 batters in his last three starts, and I think we could see a lot more on Friday.

Anytime two high-powered arms are squaring off against each other, it’s always a great idea to fade the offenses and take the NRFI. I don't need Alcantara to be great in the game, but I need him to dominate the first inning.

The offenses are both hitting around .250 as a team, so Skubal and Alcantara need to get off to a great start. I trust both pitchers to limit runs in the first inning to cash this NRFI.

Cardinals vs. Brewers - Andre Pallante vs. Quinn Priester (8:10 PM, EST)

The next NRFI I’m taking features two NL Central teams, the Brewers and Cardinals. Milwaukee will start Quinn Priester against Andre Pallante and St. Louis.

Priester has been the biggest surprise in baseball as he is 12-2 with a 3.25 ERA. Even when he has a bad game, it seems like he can’t lose.

In Priester’s last three games, he has pitched 17.1 innings, allowing just three runs. He has been dominating hitters all season, and I expect the same result in this matchup.

Pallante has had a brutal season, but he tends to throw better in division games. He has a 5.28 ERA, but is coming off two quality starts in a row.

In Pallante’s last start, he pitched six innings, allowing two runs against the Giants. He’s been very efficient as of late.

Milwaukee has one of the best team batting averages in baseball, while St. Louis has seen a decline. The Brewers are hitting .260 as a club, which is the second-best in baseball.

Even with Milwaukee’s bats, I trust Pallante in this game, and I know Priester will be ready to pitch.

• Rockies vs. Padres - Tanner Gordon vs. Dylan Cease: Gordon is 5-6 with a 6.60 ERA, and Cease hasn’t been much better in 2025. I think this could be the highest-scoring game of the day.
