The Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays will begin the World Series on Friday night in Canada. One of the most exciting bets in baseball is the NRFI, and I’m taking it on Hard Rock Sportsbook for Game 1.
Each offense is fantastic, but the pitching should shine early in the game. Blake Snell will pitch against Trey Yesavage to open the Fall Classic.

The first inning of Game 1 between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Toronto Blue Jays looks destined for a scoreless start. WithSnell taking the mound for the Dodgers and Yesavage for the Blue Jays, the matchup features two elite pitchers who should be ready to shine in Game 1.
Snell enters with a 2.35 ERA and 72 strikeouts, evidence that he is still capable of dominating batters and keeping them off the scoreboard. His metrics show that hitters will struggle to make contact, and he has a very low hard-hit percentage this year.
In the first inning, when hitters are still settling in and a pitcher is fresh, that kind of edge often means a quiet inning for the offense. Snell’s ability to mix pitches and command his fastball early in counts will likely limit any traffic on the bases, which will be critical on the road.
On the Blue Jays’ side, Yesavage is the wild card. In 2025, he posted a 3.21 ERA but a 1.43 WHIP.
Yesavage’s fastball velocity and slider movement should give him an early advantage, particularly against a Dodgers lineup that hasn’t played in over a week.
The matchup itself favors a slow start to scoring because both teams have been off all week. When this is combined with the pressure of the moment, it should be low scoring.
Snell will likely minimize free passes and keep the Blue Jays’ bats off balance, while Yesavage’s energy and pitch mix should help him breeze through the top of the Dodgers’ order.
Both pitchers enter Game 1 with strong 2025 form and favorable tendencies that point toward a quiet start. The batters on both sides will be challenged from the jump and lack the early rhythm to capitalize, making a scoreless first inning the most likely outcome.
The batters to watch out for are Shohei Ohtani and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Ohtanu is batting .282 with 55 home runs and 102 RBI this season.
He will likely win National League MVP, and for good reason because he has been fantastic. Guerrero Jr. is batting .442 with six home runs in the playoffs, so Snell needs to stay away from the batter to give himself a chance.
